Back in August, I was lucky enough to win one of the Shadow Switches from Beauty Essentials. You may have seen them floating round the blogging world recently, but what exactly is a Shadow Switch? (Totally said in the tone of Mr Weasley regarding the functions of rubber ducks!)Well basically, it’s a little pot with a stippling sponge in and by rubbing your brushes across it, it’s meant to remove all dry (powder) makeup.
As you can see, I took my lovely white Crownbrush brush and rubbed it in a black eyeshadow colour and my black Crownbrush brush in a bright blue colour.
I then swirled both brushes round the Shadow Switch but did the makeup disappear leaving my brushes looking shiny and new?
Well, for the most part; although as you can see, it didn’t really remove the black eyeshadow colour, which was a bit disappointing. Although admittedly, it did then take about three washes before the black came out! At least we know Sleek are super pigmented!!
Overall though, the Shadow switch is a handy little addition to any makeup lover’s kit. It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give your brushes a proper clean fairly regularly though, because hello germs and potential conjunctivitis! But say you’re creating loads of different eyeshadow looks in bulk for blog posts one weekend (other people do that, right?) and you need to use a completely different colour and you’re short on time and/or brushes, the Shadow Switch is the perfect quick fix.
Don’t forget that you’ll still need to clean the sponge regularly too (you can hand wash in warm soapy water or use a makeup cleaner solution) but you can flip the sponge over for extra usage 😉
Have you come across the Shadow Switch before? Would you be tempted to use one? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x

I love mine! Definitely a case of ‘bloggers made me buy it’ and I’m pretty pleased with it!
Ah so many things I own because bloggers made me do it lol
I need to get my hands on one of these, I keep seeing them everywhere but I didn’t know too much about them. I only have a handful of brushes so this would be so useful!

They’re definitely great if you don’t own many brushes 🙂 Just don’t forget to properly clean them too 😉 x
I need this! Definitely for when I just need a quick cleanse as I don’t really have that many brushes to swap between

I don’t have loads of brushes either so it’s great for a quick colour swap 😊 as long as it’s not black lol
I want to try this! Seems handy but you’re right – it doesn’t replace a proper cleanse.
Definitely, it’s great for a quick fix 😊
