When I was in high school, I took History and as part of that, our class took a day trip to Belgium. We visited a chocolatier to watch them make Belgian chocolate. As they passed round tasters, and I popped one in my mouth, my love affair of Belgian chocolate began and I spent all my pocket money in the gift shop. Oops. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not adverse to other types of chocolate, it’s just that for me, Belgian chocolate has always felt like an absolute luxury.
I’m currently in love with Planète Chocolat*, because not only are they based in Belgium, which means they make genuine Belgian chocolate, they offer free chocolate delivery to the UK. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill. You read that correctly. If you order before 2pm your chocolate arrives the next day! They make for the most beautiful presents; if you like giving away chocolate, you weird heathen. Just look at that beautiful packaging <3
I got a box of assorted truffles which arrived well packaged and contained within the most gorgeous chocolatey, velvety drawstring bag.
The box contained 21 delicious truffles which came in four different flavours; coconut, speculaas (which is a spicy shortcrust biscuit! Apparently), pistachio and cocoa. Each one was filled with a rich and creamy ganache.
They were were incredibly delicious, so indulgent and full of flavour. I think the pistachio is my favourite. Or the coconut. Maybe the speculaas or cocoa. Gah, I can’t actually pick a favourite one, I loved them all.
Planète Chocolat make boxes for all occasions and all the designs on the boxes are different so it seems more personal; the birthday box, for example, has candles all over it 🙂 They have a wide range of chocolate products including pralines and sugar-free chocolates. They also do a chocolate scented bath range <3
What’s your favourite kind of chocolate? Are you a Belgian chocolate fan? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x
*PR sample but my complete love of chocolate is definitely all my own.
