REN Clean Skincare Review*

I have incredibly sensitive skin (and rosacea) so I’m always on the look out for products that won’t irritate my face, but will still cleanse and moisturise well without causing my skin to go red and blotchy.

REN Clean Skincare have recently brought out a range of products, specifically for sensitive and sensitised skin; the EVERCALM™ range.

I was kindly two of the products to test out which I’ve been using over the past couple of months.

First up is the EVERCALM™ Gentle Cleansing Gel (£19 for 150 ml).

It contains beta-glucan to help reduce redness and inflammation, prebiotics to balance out the skin’s natural bacteria and neroli to give the skin a more even tone.

It’s a pump bottle which is really easy to use and one full pump is more than enough. The gel itself feels really soft and gentle on my face and it’s non-perfumed which I love. It’s very easy to wash off, I don’t even need to use a flannel 😀  I’ve used this every morning and evening, although in the evenings I take my make-up off with the conditioning cleanser from the Superdrug Simply Pure range first. I’ve definitely noticed that my pores seem less blocked and I’m getting less breakouts (although I did break out around my mouth the first few days I used it but, as I’ve just come off my contraceptive, they could have been hormonal spots).  My pores also seem less noticeable now and my rosacea hasn’t been flaring up as much 😀

I was also sent a pot of the EVERCALM™ Overnight Recovery Balm (£40 for 30 ml).  This little balm targets, dryness, inflammation and sensitivity while you sleep!

It looks pretty solid in the pot, but once it warms on your fingertips, it’s more like an oil. The first time I tried it, I put way too much on and my face looked incredibly greasy the next morning. After that I stuck to using a smaller amount as a little goes a long way!  It sinks in really well and doesn’t leave any residue on my pillow 😊

Finally, and not part of the EVERCALM™ range, I was sent the Flash Hydro-Boost Instant Plumping Emulsion (£34 for 40 ml) to test out as well.  It contains Hyaluronic acid and Xylitol to plump up skin, hydrate and reduce fine lines.

The first time I read the instructions I was really confused!  It said to pump a bit on to your fingers, rub it into your face, then wet your fingertips and massage it in until it’s all absorbed!  It made my face fell really weird and wet and I really wasn’t sure about it until, about 10 seconds later, it had all been absorbed into my skin.  The idea is to use this as a boost and use it under your usual moisturiser.

I really love this idea as I have really dry patches that moisturiser doesn’t help with, but putting the boost on beforehand has done wonders for my skin.  I can even wear foundation again without it going patchy!

Overall I’ve been really impressed with all three products.  My face is looking healthier and it’s well hydrated, my rosacea has been better controlled and some of my fine lines seem a bit fainter.  REN is also a cruelty-free company which is also a bonus!!  However, although I do love the results, the products aren’t really within my price range; I’m more of a £5 a product kind of girl, so I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing any time soon 🙁

  1. You could try Akin Geranium Cleanser and Toner…All natural ingredients nothing horrible in their ingredients at all …That’s if you cannot find the Ren stuff…Its rather expensive to me a little jar at £40 .,..no Akin do better prices and all natural

  2. I have almost used up the evercalm cleansing balm and I don’t know how I feel about it. It’s a great gentle cleanser for sensitive skins but you need something more vigorous to remove makeup. Does the range have a makeup remover? I don’t know how or if the cleanser has helped with my rosacea because I have a pretty solid skin care routine. I think I’ll only know if it did something for me when I stop using it.
I find it a bit pricey, but I appreciate how clean the ingredients are and I absolutely love how the pump only gives you the amount of product you need. It has lasted me quite a long time!
