National Smile Month*

If you couldn’t tell from the title and the photo above, it’s currently National Smile Month (which is running from 15 May – 15 June 2017). So to celebrate, I’ve been trying out a couple of products to help my smile look brighter and whiter and I wanted to share them, and the results, with you!

I’ve tried different products before to get my teeth looking a little bit whiter, but I absolutely hated those coconutty oil-pulling things, I found them disgusting and it made me want to gag πŸ™ (Does anyone else find that?) I’ve also tried a tooth whitening tray before, you know the ones, with the sexy gum shield looking device and the little light thing you have to hold to your mouth for about half an hour. It left me looking like a dribbly mess, I’m not sure I got the gel on evenly and my arm really ached afterwards!!

So I was super happy that I got to try out the Ultra White Whitening Toothpaste from Janina. I found it really easy and simple to use; I put it on my toothbrush and brushed my teeth! That’s it! As long as you brush for (ideally) over 3 minutes, it will start taking effect πŸ™‚ It’s low abrasion so it’s perfect for everyday use. I definitely prefer using a toothpaste, although it does take a while to get used to the taste, it’s not quite like your regular toothpaste, but it’s not completely unpleasant!

I’ve definitely started to notice a difference, especially on my canine teeth, which are weirdly a slightly different colour to all my other teeth, but using the toothpaste, they’re now starting to all look the same, and definitely a little whiter πŸ™‚ I’ve also found that even after eating breakfast and lunch, when I run my tongue over my teeth, they don’t feel all horrible and rough like they used to πŸ˜€

The other product I’ve been testing out is the Janina “Whitening & Cleaning On-The-Go” spray. It’s handbag (or pocket) sized so it’s super easy to take out with you wherever you are and it’s pretty discreet to use! You just spray a few pumps into your mouth, swirl it around for a minute or so and then spit it out (okay, that part isn’t quite so discreet, so maybe use the toilets if you’re going to use this product in public!) But, you don’t need to rinse your mouth out afterwards, so you’re not going to get caught with your head in the sink doing that weird slurp as you’re trying to catch water with your tongue! Yeah, you know you’ve all done it!!

Not only does it help to whiten your teeth, especially if you’re always out drinking coffee or wine, but it freshens your breath as well, so it’s perfect for taking with you on a date or using just before a big presentation at work! I’ve been using this more as a breath freshener rather than a teeth whitening product, but as I’m using the toothpaste at the same time, I don’t know which one is making my teeth whiter!

You can pick these, and their other, products up from places like Ocado, Waitrose, Superdrug and Boots. They seem to have more of the range available at Boots though and they’re currently on offer! (correct at the time of publishing)Β  They’re certainly not the cheapest teeth whitening products out there at about Β£8-9 per product, but I’m really happy with the results so far, and I can’t wait to see how much difference there is when I’ve finished using them πŸ™‚

  1. Oh! Been looking for a new whitening product that actually works! I’ll check this out! Thank you x

  2. I’ve never seen these products before but I love whitening toothpastes.
Coconut oil pulling does not appeal in the slightest!

  3. I use activated charcoal. It feels a bit odd at first, and you have to be careful and slow – otherwise you end up getting black dust everywhere. But I drink a lot of coffee and the occasional red wine – all the nice teeth stainers! My teeth are so much whiter now – I also had the problem of my canine teeth being more stained than the others, and they are all the same whiteness now too. I love it!

    1. I’ve not tried that before, I’ve only ever used charcoal on my face for my pores!! I’m glad it worked for you πŸ˜€

    1. I’m definitely impressed by these products as they’re easy to use and don’t taste funky and don’t strip your teeth either πŸ™‚ xx
