Joyfuel Review*

I love supporting local and independent businesses, so I was really excited when Joyfuel, a Worthing-based business got in touch, asking if I wanted to check out their products.

I had a nose at their website and was immediately drawn to the bright colours and amusing tone of their statements ๐Ÿ˜€ I was also interested to learn that the company is the brainchild of Jules, the founder of Bagelman (one of my favourite places in Brighton to grab a snack on the go; their ATM bagels are the one!!)

So who are they?

Joyfuel are a company who make raw, vegan energy bars (well they’re 25g squares actually!).

everythingโ€™s hand-made, cold-pressed, small batched, vegan, gluten-free, sulphite-free, soy-free, wheat-free, GMO-free, sensibly-sourced, compostable, biodegradably-wrapped, hello mum (you still listening?)

What do they offer?

There are 4 different types of square to choose from.

If you’re looking for a performance boost, then the orange hazel macha or apricot ginger is for you.

For pure indulgence, you could pick up a triple choc cashew or a blueberry maple pecan.

If you feel you need a bit of nourishment, then the lemon coconut or the very berry squares are the one!

Want some wellness in your life? Grab a raspberry almond butter or a peanut butter choc square!

How do you get them?

They make all their bars mid-week, so just order by 5pm on a Tuesday and you’ll get your bars in time for the weekend! The delivery is absolutely free and they fit through the letterbox, so if you’re not in, you still get them ๐Ÿ˜€

Oh, so it’s a subscription box right?

Nope, you can make a one-off purchase if you want. However, if you do want to subsribe, you can get weekly, fortnightly or monthly packages ๐Ÿ˜€

What are the prices like?

A box of 8 squares is ยฃ9.95, 16 squares is ยฃ19.95 and 24 squares is ยฃ29.95 (prices for one-off boxes). If you subscribe you can save 5% on your boxes.

How long do they last?

They have a 3-week “best before” date, but they’re designed to be eaten as soon as possible!

Most importantly of all, what do they taste like?

  • The raspberry almond butter tasted mostly of almond with hints of raspberry thrown in; I thought the combination worked really well and it felt like I was eating a flapjack ๐Ÿ˜€
  • I thought the blueberry maple pecan tasted really sweet, although I think the dates in it overpowered the over flavours a little. I didn’t really pick up on the maple pecan but I did get the taste of blueberry coming through.
  • If I’m being honest, I thought the lemon coconut was a bit odd. I said to J that it looked a bit like a curry!! I was sort of right, not only is there lemon and coconut in it, but there’s also tumeric as well!! I wasn’t that keen on this one. I think this might have been my least favourite โ˜น๏ธ

  • I thought the triple choc cashew tasted a little bitter, but as I’m a massive fan of dark chocolate, I really enjoyed it. It was quite crumbly to eat but I really liked the cashews throughout as gave it a little something extra ๐Ÿ˜Š
  • If you’re a fan of ginger, then the apricot ginger is definitely for you. This one is really full of flavour and very ginger-heavy; perfect for relieving nausea and loss of appetite!!

  • I think my favourite has to be the peanut butter choc, which is weird as I hate peanut butter!! However, I loved the nutty chocolate taste and the fact that this one had little bits of crisped rice dotted throughout it. Even J agreed and said he loved this one most ๐Ÿ˜€โค๏ธ
  • The orange hazel macha was also quite date-heavy and I didn’t think it tasted that much like orange. It was pleasant enough to eat though!
  • One of my other favourites was the very berry. It was really sweet and the cranberries were delicious โค๏ธ

  1. I haven’t heard of Joyfuel before but these are the kind of bars that I would definitely buy if I saw them somewhere. They look so delicious and sound so healthy!

  2. They look really nice, and I like that they’ve come from Bagelman which is our favourite bagel shop. I just started this week making my own raw energy bars from dried fruit, dates, nuts & seeds. It’s very easy, though the down side is that then you have a big batch in the fridge and the temptation is to eat several at once…
