The thing about living in a house that we’re still renovating is that we’ve not really bothered with hanging anything up on the walls (apart from mirrors) because putting up prints seems like such a finishing touch kind of project.
Since the invention of digital cameras, phone cameras and uploading pics straight to Facebook or Instagram, I miss the old-fashioned excitement of using up a roll of film, taking it into a shop, waiting for it to be developed and see how great (or awful) the pictures I took were.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been living with J for almost 3 years now. A medal for him for putting up with me. And Bear, who destroys the occasional home furnishing.
In that time we’ve done a few bits to the house such as; putting the heating and flooring down in the dining room so we could use it, moved some furniture around and bought new sofas and bedside tables.
I love flowers, they’re just so happy. You know what I mean, right? We don’t have fresh flowers enough in our house and that’s something I want to try and change this year.
I’ve changed my makeup for spring, I’ve started changing my wardrobe; hell, I’ve even started lightening my hair for those sunnier days; but I find to really change into that spring-to-summer mood, I also need to change my bedding to reflect the lighter, warmer days and those hot, sticky nights.
I’m always really intrigued to see other bloggers set-ups, and when I say really intrigued, what I actually mean is that I’m a teeny tiny bit jealous of all the bloggers who have gorgeous offices with lovely big desks and inspirational quotes and artwork on the walls and beautiful shelves with copper terrariums and cute little plants everywhere. Okay, I might be very jealous, but maybe one day when we actually finish the house *HINT* I can have my own room or at least a bit of space in a room 😀
That’s the eternal question isn’t it? And actually I have no idea to be honest, is butter a carb? Who knows, who cares, because look how fetch my new print from Coconut Lane is! (Okay, I totally lied, I do care because no, it’s not actually a carb. And I should definitely stop trying to make fetch happen! ~ This will only make sense for any Mean Girl fans out there!)
To be honest, I spend a hell of a lot of time browsing Instagram; on the bus, during advert breaks, when I’m on the toilet etc. I love getting that brief glimpse into someone else’s life; although, sometimes I do wonder what happens after the picture’s been taken. Please tell me I’m not alone in this, right?
I always feel that art can really change a house into a home and give it a personal touch. That being said, I’ve never really been in a position to buy art before (I don’t think ripping out posters from magazines really counts to be honest!).
