Personal Shopping At Topshop | Brighton*

I have been known, on occasion, to be a stubborn little sausage. That being said, I’m also willing to admit when I’m wrong. And you’re possibly wondering where the hell am I going with this…

Well for years I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Topshop; on the one hand, it’s always full of (in my mind) stick-thin giggly kids wearing cropped tops, they sell alternative band tees to people who don’t have the slightest idea who the bands are, and gold scars because there are “flaws worth fighting for”. W the actual F?

On the other hand, I often walk past with a sense that I wish I was cool enough to shop there and look good in the clothes! But once you hit your 30s, places like Topshop kinda seem off-limits. Amiright?

That possibly wasn’t the best opening statement I could have made, but blogging is all about honesty, right? Hear me out though…

I’m trying to be more open-minded and challenge my perceptions, so when I saw that the lovely Bethanie was arranging an event to promote the Topshop Personal Shopping Service, I figured it would be a great opportunity to get rid of my pre-conceptions and find out from the experts if I can rock a Topshop outfit in my 30s.

We had a talk from the girls at Topshop and Bethanie (who’s a private personal shopper) about the trends for this A/W and how to put them together. Big prints and bomber jackets are definitely the must haves this year! And rose gold boots ♥

Then we had completely free rein of the store (because it was closed, living the dream right there!) and had help picking out clothes I’d never normally have looked twice at. Clothes that would flatter and suit my “small pear” shape. Whilst drinking Brighton Gin. As it turns out, I still don’t like gin. But at least I tried!

Once I’d picked out a handful of things to try on, I was shown upstairs to the personal shopping area. HOLY SHIT IN A BOX, IT’S HUGE! And pretty. And somewhere you can take a few friends to hang out and laugh and try on clothes to your heart’s content.

One of the lovely things about the personal shopping service is the fact the changing rooms are absolutely huge and they have outfits hanging up in every one for inspiration!

I had a blast trying everything on. And posing like a giant twat 😀

I ended up buying a couple of items (which will feature in an outfit of the day post soon) because it turns out that actually yes, with a little bit of help, you can rock Topshop when you’re in your 30s!

Before the event, I vaguely knew that Topshop had a personal shopping service, but I thought that it was something you’d have to pay for. Nope; it’s completely complimentary!  You can either phone, book online at Topshop or pop into your local store to book an appointment. You can choose from a quick 30 minutes (the “I need a new pair of jeans”) up to 2 hours (the “I hate everything in my wardrobe”). And the lovely staff will help you find clothes for any event and any budget. There’s no obligation to buy anything you try either!

Have you ever used the Topshop Personal Shopping Service before? Is it something you might use now you know about it? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x

*I was invited by the venue to try out their service but all views and mirror poses are my own.

  1. I had no idea Topshop did a personal shopper service and would never have guessed it was free. I always love the items other people find in Topshop but whenever I go in, I leave empty-handed. Topshop and I don’t get along but maybe I need someone helping me! This post is going to be awful for my bank balance!
You picked some really pretty items; I hope you got the first skirt as it looks so comfy!

    1. I had no idea until I got invited to the event. I’m pretty much the same as you, I could never find all the awesome clothes other people seemed to find and always left feeling frustrated!!
And yes, I did get the first skirt 🙂 xx
