Typical really, isn’t it? It was one of my oldest friend’s weddings last weekend and my face decided to break out in spots. This meant using more makeup than usual to hide said spots and now my face looks even worse! I’m also really tired as the wedding was a 5 hour drive away (although my boyfriend and I stayed in a hotel for the weekend, it was still a lot of travelling!) I have a treatment routine I use whenever I feel my face really needs it and whenever I feel a bit run down which I thought I’d share with you 🙂
- Step one: The double cleanse – I used Garnier Micellar Water to make sure I removed all traces of makeup and dirt. Then I used my Soap and Glory 4-in-1 Wash-Off Deep Cleansing Milk (I think it’s a relatively old product, so the closest I found to it is here). I really love this cleanser as it smells like peaches, makes my skin feel really, really soft and is suitable for all skin types! I also gave my face a mini massage as I was applying it (always in upward strokes).
- Step two: Gentle exfoliation – I used a tiny bit of St Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub to remove any dead skin cells, but I didn’t rub very hard as it can be quite abrasive for my skin. (I usually use a gentler product but I’ve run out and haven’t got around to buying any more yet so I borrowed my boyfriend’s!)
- Step three: Steam – I love this part. I boiled the kettle, filled a saucepan 1/4 full and stick my face over it for 5 minutes. I also put a towel over my head so the steam would be concentrated to my face. It really helped open my pores and also helped my breathing as I suffer from asthma.
- Step four: Face mask – Once my face had steamed, I patted it dry and immediately applied the face mask. I went for Montagne Jeunesse’s (now called 7th Heaven) Green Tea Peel-Off. It’s designed to deep cleanse and tone the skin and contains young green tea, root ginger and lemon to uplift and refresh skin. These face masks are only £1 and can be found in supermarkets and drugstores. After 20 minutes, I peeled it off and got any stubborn bits (eyebrows) off with a bit of water.
- Step five: Tone – I’m a bad, bad beauty blogger. I haven’t actually owned toner for years, I figured that the face mask would tone my skin instead 😀
- Step six: Moisturise – To finish my face treatment, I made sure to thoroughly moisturise. I’m absolutely loving Clinique Moisture Surge at the moment. I recently bought a new jar and as they had no cream left, I opted for the gel version. I think I actually prefer the gel!
My face definitely feels a lot softer and looks brighter. It should help my spots clear up faster! I really ought to do this once a week, but I never seem to find the time!
