My Birthday | 2017

It was my birthday on Sunday and was a really lovely one. I used to have really awful birthdays (lots of drink, lots of crying, lots of getting frustrated with “friends”) until I started going out with J. Now I have amazing, quiet, chilled out birthdays, so I thought I’d share what I got up to this year!

Banana Loaf Recipe Review

I really dislike eating bananas. There, I said it. I hate the smell, the taste and the texture.

That being said though, I love those little foam banana sweets, having blended bananas in my morning smoothies and banana loaf. Recently, I bought way too many bananas and instead of them going to waste, I thought I’d put them to good use and make a banana loaf (with a surprise inside!)

Steinbeck And Shaw | Brighton*

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the soft launch of their lastest cocktail bar in Brighton. Located at the bottom of West Street and attached to PRYZM, it honestly feels a million miles away from the usual connotations of “just another West Street bar”. For those of you not from Brighton, think of that one street in your town where you never want to go down at night because it’s full of clubbers, people throwing up and girls dropping chips all over the floor while trying to pull their knickers out of their bums. Summer Lunch Recipes

I’ll let you in on a secret. I much prefer autumn and winter but only because I’m lazy. Hear me out though; I make weekday lunches for me and J every day and it’s so easy to buy cheapy cans of soup from Asda, but in the hotter months, I actually have to put a little bit of effort in!

I have a “not so secret” secret. I’m a habitual snacker, especially when I’m at work. I start off doing really well and not succumbing to the 11am biscuit. I dutifully drink loads of water and clap myself on the back for doing so well. I eat my somewhat healthy lunch and usually save a clementine for that 3pm slump.

Turtle Bay | Crawley*

I think I’m probably happiest when I’m eating, and I love trying out new and different foods and finding lovely places to eat out. So, on the last bank holiday weekend, J and I drove over to Crawley to check out a Caribbean restaurant called Turtle Bay, which has branches all across the UK.

The Walrus | Brighton*

Down on Ship Street in Brighton there used be a place called The Smugglers; a sports pub with a nightclub above, aptly named The Loft, and 10 Below, a slightly smaller club below the main pub.

It closed down in 2015 and has now been reborn as The Walrus. I was invited to their VIP lunch to check out the new venue and sample some of the menu. Naturally, I took J with me 🙂
