My Review Of The New Shake Shack In Brighton*

It’s fair to say that 2020 has probably been one of the shittest years so far. However, there’s recently been a shining light in the darkness; Shake Shack has come to Brighton!!

Who are they?

Shake Shack started in 2001 as a hot dog cart in New York. In 2013 they came over to us, first with a branch in Covent Garden and then others dotted around the UK. They sell burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs and of course, their infamous shakes!

The Brighton Shake Shack is only available for takeout and they’re only on Deliveroo. I’m just thankful that they deliver to us as we’re pretty far outside of Brighton town centre!! Shake Shack have a £4.49 delivery charge with a £10 minimum order. I loved that most of Shake Shack’s packaging is recyclable or compostable (although not for home composting). The boxes the fries came in had been printed with soy ink!

What we ordered:

J and I both went for the double Shack burger; a double cheese burger with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce. We also had the crinkle cut fries and a shake each, although I went for the Black and White (chocolate and vanilla) and J went for the caramel!

Our Verdict:

The burgers were absolutely delicious; the meat was really tender and full of flavour. The ShackSauce was really tasty and reminded me a little bit of gherkins! The potato bun was really soft and held together incredibly well!! There wasn’t too much lettuce or tomato in the burger so nothing fell out as we ate (I hate that with burgers!!)

Our burgers were £8.75 each, which is pretty reasonable for a double burger. There are also options to add extra cheese, patties, sauce, peppers and bacon (for £1 extra for each item). You can also opt out of the salad and/or the sauce and have the burgers well done at no extra cost.

We loved the crinkle cut fries. The fries were a really decent sized portion and they were seasoned really well, although J thought they were a little bit too salty for him. Next time I’d want to try out the fries with their pot of cheese sauce!

The fries were £3 for a box and you can add the cheese sauce for an extra £1. The fries are suitable for vegetarians and vegans and the cheese sauce is suitable for vegetarians.

The only downside for me was my shake, because they forgot to put the ice cream in mine so it was more like chocolate milk! You can see the difference between how much J got in his and how much I got in mine!! It still tasted pretty damned good though and I got to try out some of J’s caramel shake, although I preferred mine more!

J said “you know it’s a good, thick shake when it gets all in your moustache!”

All the shakes are £5.95 and also come in vanilla, strawberry and coffee flavours 🙂

Thank you so much to Shake Shack and Deliveroo for our incredible feast!! I would definitely use them again, although next time I want to try the Chick’n Shack burger, a hot dog and a strawberry shake!!

Have you tried Shake Shack before? What’s your favourite thing to eat there? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x

*I was kindly given Deliveroo credit by Shake Shake to review some of their menu but all views and love of food are my own. And J’s.
