Poapoa are a UK-based skincare company whose products are vegan, made from natural, hand-blended ingredients and are free from sulphates, parabens and synthetics 🙂
Poapoa are on a mission to take fair trade even further. They’ve teamed up with small, rural communities who cultivate the plants and flowers that go into the Poapoa products! All the raw ingredients are processed where they’re farmed, which cuts out the middle men and gives the money back to the communities who need it!
I was kindly sent some of their shampoo, body wash and a bar of soap to test out.
The lemon and rosemary natural shampoo:
This shampoo is suitable for all hair types (and it’s for men, women and children over the age of 3). The shampoo is designed to strengthen, balance and revive your hair 🙂
What’s in it?
It contains 6 essential oils including rosemary, cedarwood, lemon peel and Geranium! The shampoo is vegan, free from evil and has been sustainably developed. It was also handmade and I love that it tells you who made it and where on the back; mine was made by Editha in the Philippines!! The bottle is also 100% recyclable (or reusable).
What I thought:
I love the smell of this shampoo as lemon is one of my favourite scents 🍋🍋 It’s undiluted so a little goes a really long way! Once it was lathered up, I started smelling the rosemary as well. You remember those ads where the woman is washing her hair under a tropical waterfall and absolutely enjoying life? That’s honestly exactly how I felt washing my hair with this. I can’t describe just how beautiful the scent is but it made me think of holidays, warm weather and tropical paradises!!
The shampoo is clarifying so it took all the build-up of previous products out of my hair to leave it feeling soft and looking shiny. I also used this after I dyed my hair and it’s been really great at not taking the colour out!
The Lavender body wash:
This body wash is designed to hydrate and soothe the skin and is suitable for all skin types.
What’s in it?
The body wash contains one essential oil; lavender, but also has vitamin E and virgin coconut oil in it to keep skin moisturised and soft 🙂 Like the shampoo, the body wash is also vegan, free from evil and has been sustainably developed. It was also made by Editha!
What I thought:
I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of lavender products, but the scent is actually pretty subtle!! Once it’s diluted with water, the scent of lavender becomes even more subtle. After getting out of the shower and drying off, I had to put my nose right on my skin to be able to smell anything although to be honest, I wasn’t too opposed to that. I usually shower in the evenings so I don’t want to use anything too heavily perfumed right before bed!
It’s a really luxurious feeling body wash and it glides over skin really easily to leave it feeling soft and moisturised. My skin has been feeling lovely and I can’t stop stroking my arms every time I use it, I look like a right pervert!!
The charcoal and tea tree shea soap:
This soap has been designed to detoxify and exfoliate.
What’s in it?
It contains shea butter, virgin coconut, castor oil and tea tree essential oil. Plus it contains vitamin E for ultra hydration!! This time my soap bar was made by Patience and Comfort in Ghana!!
I love the marble effect of the soap, it looks so pretty!
What I thought:
Unfortunately, I really didn’t like the smell 🙁 It was very charcoal-y, not very tea tree-y and actually reminded me of antiseptic solution!! It didn’t really smell like a product I wanted to put on my skin for pleasure 😬😬
That being said, I did try it out in the spirit of adventure and it was good at exfoliating my skin and leaving it feeling soft, thanks to the vitamin E. I just don’t think I’d want to use it again 🙁
Their neem and orange soap sounds more like my kind of thing though!
Thank you so much to Poapoa for sending me these products to try out 🧡🧡
Have you tried anything from Poapoa before? Which product would you want to try? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 xx
*These were kindly sent to me to review but views, hair and body are my own.
Thanks for sharing your review, the shampoo and body wash sound lovely, might be something I would try, had a read of the website it seems a great idea of fair trade products, does this including cruelty free too 🙂

I’m glad you liked the review 🙂 x
I’ve not heard of Poapoa before – they sound great. I love a good ethical brand and I totally stroke my own skin after a good exfoliation or moisturising too haha! x
I’m glad I’m not the only one lol!! xx
I’ve not heard of this brand before but lemon, rosemary and lavender are all essential oils and scents that I love and use a lot so they sound perfect for me! And that’s such a lovely touch that you know the individual who’s responsible for your product as well. BTW, I don’t think you’re a pervert, I love stroking my skin after I’ve exfoliated it as well, haha! X

Yeah, I really liked that touch! There are photos of them on the website as well 🙂 Ha, I’m glad I’m not the only one!! 🙂 x
Oooh I’ve not heard of this brand before, but I’m definitely going to check them out, they sound right up my street!
Love, Amie ❤
The Curvaceous Vegan
Yes, you would definitely love them 🙂 xx
Ooh this brand sounds great! I love the fact that they work so closely with rural communities, and that they don’t use any harsh ingredients in their products. The shampoo sounds straight up my street, I love lemon and I’ve actually been looking for a good clarifying shampoo so this could be a winner! I also love the idea of the shower gel, lavender always makes me super sleepy so it would be good before bed! I laughed so much at you saying you look like a pervert stroking your arms haha! It’s a shame you didn’t get on so well with the smell of the soap, but I guess now you know the product itself is good you can try a more ‘you’ scent next time. I definitely need to bear this brand in mind, they sound fab!
Yeah, I was so impressed by their ethos! I’m trying to be more careful with my choices where I can and Poapoa definitely hits the mark! I’m glad I made you laugh 😀 Yeah, I’ll definitely be looking into more of their products for something more “me”!! I’d love to know if you try anything 🙂 xx
