A Chatty Catch-Up | June 2020

I’ve now been working at home for the past three months, which is longer than I was working in the office for!! It’s kind of become the new norm but it’s still been a bit of a struggle. I’ve now been referred for CBT therapy to help with my anxiety and I really hope it helps!! June hasn’t been all bad though; I’ve started going out for walks again and had loads of chats with my mum and dad which has really helped!!

Here are my other highlights from June:

What I loved:

At the end of May, I won an Instagram competition run by Anna from IDontCrampMyStyle. The prize was Β£50 to spend at Poster Store!! I spent absolutely ages choosing what prints I wanted and was even able to buy frames as well within the Β£50! The frames are black wood with Plexiglas and they have stands on the back to put them on shelves or tables and there are also hooks to be able to hang them on the wall πŸ™‚

In the end, I chose this gorgeous pink flower print (which I already had a frame for from IKEA), a stunning autumnal deer print, a very calming dark forest print and this beautiful pastel pink waves print!! The three large prints are A4 size and the smaller print is 13cm x 18cm. I can’t wait to put them up in the house somewhere!

I’ve been loving wearing this absolutely beautiful necklace from Daisy London*. It’s the Luna necklace from their EstΓ©e Lalonde collection, in Sterling silver. I love the gorgeous crescent moon design because it goes perfectly with the star necklace that I wear already (which was previously gifted from Jewellery Box!)

Daisy London have an incredible range of women’s necklaces in both silver and gold, so if you’re looking for a gift for yourself or a loved one, definitely check them out (they also do jewellery for men too!)

I love that the chain has three different rings on it so you can adjust the length! Plus the chain is incredibly sturdy πŸ™‚

Also, I got this gorgeous spotty Dorothy Perkins dress ages ago but completely forgot to share it with you!! I managed to get it in the sale so it was only Β£12 (it’s normally Β£24!) It’s so comfy as it’s a pull-on dress and, as it’s quite thin material, it’s been lovely to wear while the weather has been really hot and sunny πŸ™‚

I reached the “dye my hair” stage of lockdown!! I bleached my hair first, then used the colour Mystic Purple from Knight & Wilson’s Colour Freedom range. It was Β£6.99 from Superdrug. It looks a lot more lilac/purple in real life but the sunshine makes it look super pink!!

It was my dad’s birthday a couple of weeks ago and, as I wasn’t able to see him, I asked my mum to help me get a hamper together for him!! She really went all out and got him some of his favourite foods and even made him some scones so they could have an afternoon tea with the jam and clotted cream I got him πŸ™‚

Home and garden:

As I’m spending all my time at home, I’ve been trying to tackle some of the DIY projects I’ve been wanting to do for ages. One of my projects was to neaten up the sealant on the kitchen worktops. As you can see, the worktop and trim has been sealed and the trim and the tiles has been sealed but it started to discolour and peel.

I started off by using a Stanley knife and glass scraper to try and neaten it up, but it was so difficult, so I decided to dig it all out and start again!! Luckily we have plenty of sealant upstairs, along with a couple of sealant guns. I spent a week watching loads of YouTube videos on how to do a good line of sealant but there weren’t many videos on how to use the sealant gun, so J showed me what to do πŸ™‚

Inevitably, I managed to make an absolutely huge mess and probably spent a good couple of hours trying to neaten it all up!! It turned out pretty well in the end as you can’t even tell it’s there unless you look closely! My next project is to re-seal the other kitchen worktop where the sink is because the sealant has got water damaged! I think for that project, I’m going to put some masking tape down so I get a nice straight line!

I also spent a hugely enjoyable Saturday afternoon pressure washing our decking!! J bought a Karcher pressure washer years ago but it was up in the loft. I got it down, cleaned it and checked it still worked. Then I started on the deck; it was so much fun and incredibly messy!! The decking is almost 5 years old and had never been cleaned before!!

Finally, don’t forget to check out my amazing advertisers:

Kathleen Natural is a premium skin care brand, based in the UK, who have a passion for all things natural and organic.

They have an incredible range of products and I’ve reviewed the Illuminating Serum, the Sonic Facial Cleanser and their brand new shower gels and body oils on my blog πŸ™‚

They’re also on Twitter and Instagram as well 🌸🌸🌸

Tim Parsons is an author who writes children’s books about a paramedic called Chris!! The books are aimed at children between 4 and 10 and helps them understand what happens when you call an ambulance πŸ™‚ The books are available in paperback, hardback and audio from Amazon and other retailers πŸš‘πŸš‘

You can also check Paramedic Chris out on Facebook and Twitter!!

  7. Your June was so much more productive than mine! I’m considering a post like this though so I can see what I actually did accomplish. I do one seasonally for the homestead and it’s rather satisfying to realize what had been learned and done.

    1. I always feel like I’ve not done much so I tend to scroll through my camera photos for the month to see what I did, it’s always surprising lol!! A seasonal one is pretty awesome, especially if you learnt a lot πŸ™‚ xx

  8. That Dorothy Perkins dress looks gorgeous! I love it when a dress has an elastic waist that hugs nicely. The hair looks fab too, I added some pink pieces into my hair a few years ago and seeing yours is making me want it back!
