Whoops a daisies!! I kind of forgot to do a catch up for October so I thought I’d combine it with my November catch-up!!
Here’s what I’ve been up to for the past couple of months!!
Food:
At the beginning of October, we celebrated J’s birthday and I made him a three-tiered Nutella cake from Jane’s Patisserie. It tasted absolutely gorgeous (although I used Asda’s own hazelnut spread which didn’t really taste very hazelnutty) and I really enjoyed baking it!
I also met up with my mum in Portsmouth in November for coffee, lunch and a catch up which was really lovely! It was a belated birthday present for my mum. We both had warm mushroom baps but I had cheese in mine and my mum had bacon.
Last year I was very kindly sent a massive hamper from Jet2 and I finally got round to making this caramel yule log kit (by Bakedin) that was inside!! It wasn’t particularly easy to make but the instructions were really easy to follow and all the dry ingredients were included and numbered!! It tasted amazing and didn’t really last very long lol
Purchases:
I haven’t really bought much over the past couple of months as J and I want to pay our mortgage off in the next two years which means upping our payments dramatically, so I’m trying to save as much money as possible!!
I did buy this super cute succulent which came in this pumpkin plant pot!! I saw him in Next and couldn’t resist and, at ยฃ6 for the plant and the pot, I thought it was pretty reasonable ๐
While in Portsmouth with my mum, I saw this adorable otter in Waterstones and, as I had a gift card, I couldn’t leave him in the shop!! His name is Mr Otter. Obviously.
Blogging:
I’ve started to really enjoy writing again and I recently had the opportunity to write a post styling the boots worn on this year’s I’m a Celeb…
I’m also looking forward to heading to the Curry Leaf cafe next month to review their lunchtime menu!!
Home and garden:
We had a bit of a disaster near the end of November when our washing machine broke!! Luckily a couple of new parts later and it seems to be going again. I did have to drain it a few times though and managed to get water all over the floor, oops!!
I gave plastering a go in the kitchen and I soon realised that I cannot plaster, but it was still pretty fun ๐ I think I might keep doing little bits and see if I can get the whole section finished ๐

That cake and yule log look delicious Holly! ๐ Makes me want to take up baking again. I love the cute pumpkin pot. I hardly go in Next but I’ll have a look in there more often.
