I’d never really given much thought to my arms before. I mean, I do have quite slender forearms, dotted with cute little freckles and a pretty wrist tattoo. My feelings about my upper arms were pretty indifferent; until I was tagged on Facebook a few years ago in the most unflattering photo, I was at a friend’s wedding wearing a blue sleeveless dress.
All I could see were my incredibly chubby, pasty upper arms and how awful I thought they looked. I tried to find the photo on FB so I could show you all, but to be honest, I think I swiftly untagged myself 😐😐
Since that photo was taken, although I’ve lost some weight, I’ve still felt self-conscious about what I wear and whether it shows off my arms or not. I’m okay wearing t-shirts and I’ll wear a dress for a glitzy blog event (if I absolutely have to) and try not to get photographed, but vest tops are a massive no-no!
Autumn and winter are fine as I can wear jumpers to my heart’s content. The only problem is that, in this lovely weather we’ve had, I don’t exactly want to wear long sleeves and jumpers!!
A fab alternative solution is Wingz!! They’re “fashion arm coverage sleeves for dresses” but I think they also look pretty awesome under t-shirts as well! Not only do they cover my uppers arms, they also look really pretty and can change the look of an outfit entirely!!
They recently got in touch asking if I’d like to try a pair and, as I’m still a goth at heart, I went for the black lace Wingz in 3/4 length because I thought the lace looked really cute and I didn’t think the fabric would be tight on my arms.
When they arrived, I was excited to give them a go. They’re really easy to put on, but if you’re struggling, there’s a handy video on their website 😀 You put it on like a normal top and then pull the bottom of the top under your boobs so it sits comfortably.
Once the Wingz are on, it’s really easy to put a t-shirt or dress over the top and you can’t see band underneath your clothes 😀
I teamed the Wingz with my beloved Harry Potter “I must not tell lies” t-shirt, black skinny jeans and a Time Turner! I think the Wingz look brilliant and just add a little something extra to my outfit 🙂
The Wingz that I chose are nice and loose so I don’t feel restricted when I’m wearing them. The lace is really soft which I was really pleased about. There’s nothing worse than lace products that are really scratchy on skin!
This is one of my favourite dresses, not in the least because it has fricking pockets!! It’s a black sleeveless dress from Asos by a company called Closet. I really love this dress but hate wearing it because of the lack of sleeves. Now I’m perfectly happy to wear it, thanks to Wingz 🙂 I teamed the dress with a pair of ankle boots I also got from Asos!
Wingz come in a variety of colours, sleeve lengths and styles and cater for sizes 6 to 28. It was really easy to find my size, I measured my underbust and checked the Wingz size chart which told me I was a 1 (or a UK 12 – 16). It’s really comfy to wear and it’s not tight anywhere on my body!
Have you tried Wingz before? Would something like this appeal to you? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x
*The Wingz were very kindly sent to me to review but views, clothing and arms are my own.

What a great idea! The Wingz look like they are a part of that dress 🙂
I know, they’ve fab aren’t they? x
Do they come in more colours?
They come in loads of different colours 🙂
Those are so pretty and such a good idea, I’m definitely self conscious about my upper arms now that they wave about in the breeze like my sheets on the line.
Such an interesting description 😂😂😂😂 x
I love this! I’m not a fan of my upper arms either, and it’s nice to have an option that’s not having to wear a cardigan or something, especially in this hot weather. You also wouldn’t think that it wasn’t part of the dress either. I also like that with a selection of wings you can turn one dress into multiple outfits! Thanks for sharing, I shall certainly check them out!
I love the fact it’s not a jumper or cardigan, I find they get way too hot!
I’m so pleased that your arms are your own.
Completely love this idea btw. Looks really good with the dress
Ha thought you’d like that bit! It’s great isn’t it? It really changes an outfit 😀😀
I’ve never heard of Wingz but WOW(!), they really add to both outfits you’ve posted and would be perfect to cover up upper arm hangups or to wear shorter length tops in Autumn / Winter. Love this and will definitely check out their website.
I love that they just add an extra dimension to an outfit and definitely pleases my inner goth! I’m looking into some of their other styles for winter 😀😀
Oh wow, first of all you look bloomin hot in that black dress, and secondly what a fantastic idea. I have loads of dresses where I’m conscious of the tops of my arms and this would be the ideal cover over up.

Thank you so much!!
I love the fact that there are different colours and styles so you could buy different ones for every occasion! Xx
