Outfit Of The Day #10 | The Tea Dress

If you’ve been keeping up with my life, you’ll know I’ve been training with a personal trainer since January. In that time, I’ve lost just over a stone and I really wanted to treat myself to a new outfit; more specifically, a new dress!

I’ve always been hesitant to wear dresses during the day, either because I don’t feel very confident in them or because I don’t feel I have the right footwear to go with them.

I didn’t really know what kind of dress I wanted but, as my office at work gets super hot (over 27ºc), I thought I could buy something practical that I could wear at work or wear during the evening.

While I was looking, I got an email from Asos saying they had a sale, so naturally I went to have a look and found the most beautiful dress!!

It was black tea dress from Oasis with a pretty daisy print over it (at the time of publishing it is only available in size 6) and was £48 reduced down to £24!

I knew I had to have it and I managed to get the last size 12! I had no idea if it was going to fit or not as I’ve not bought any new dresses for years and I’m still a little top heavy 😐😐 I also had no idea if the tea dress style would look good on me or not.

When it arrived, I was a little unsure about the high neck and the ruffled sleeves to start with and I wasn’t that keen on them, but I really loved the print. I moaned to J that it didn’t really seem to be my style and he told me that I didn’t have to have a style and I could wear what I wanted if I liked it 😲😲😲😲 I’m nearly 35 and I hadn’t been able to figure that out on my own!

After that, I knew I was going to keep it. I love the fabric, it’s really soft and the length is perfect for me 🙂 I really like the peplum hem at the bottom and the dress fits me perfectly, even in the booby area!!

I wore it to work and have never felt so amazing!! I got so many compliments from my colleagues; honestly, I felt bloody incredible in my pretty dress!! 🥰🥰

At lunchtime, I persuaded my lovely friend, Georgie, to run round Brighton taking photos of me in my new dress! She was more than happy to help and got some amazing shots of me ❤️❤️

I wore my Asos Ration zip ankle boots (out of stock at the time of posting) and I think they went really well with the dress 🙂 I finished the outfit with a pair of black tights from Primark and yeah, I edited out the bloody hole I got in them 10 minutes after getting to work 😂😂

  1. This dress is so pretty with such a cute print & it looks gorgeous on you! I have a dress that always makes me feel good when I wear it, it’s from boohoo and I really wish I’d bought the other colour options of it that they had available back when I bought it now because I didn’t think I was going to love it so much! Lovely post x

    1. Thank you 😘😘 awwww it’s always a shame when they do the same dress in different colours but go out of stock when you decide you need all the colours! X

  2. I already mentioned it on Instagram but I love this dress on you. You should definitely try more tea dresses like this, I think.

    1. Thank you so much Kim! I keep looking for them but all the others I’ve found are button ones and I’m not sure that’s my style x

  3. The feeling when you find an outfit or a clothing piece that makes you feel good every time you wear it is incredible! This dress is stunning and I can see why you love it so much x

  4. Love the dress! You look wonderful 🙂 I always shy away from dresses as I always think I look horrid in them! haha Every time I think I get the courage to purchase one I throw it back!

  5. Such a pretty dress and it looks amazing on you! I love the ruffled sleeves – I always end up looking like I’ve stepped back in time and stole some shoulder pads from the 80s when I try them though sadly. This style of dress is a favourite of mine as it’s one of those that’s flattering on most body types – I have small boobs and bigger hips, and it makes me feel good wearing it as it highlights my waist. It’s also a great day dress that you can dress up for a night out too.

    1. Thank you so much!! Ahaha, this is what I was worried about too, but I think they work okay 🙂 Yeah, I want more tea dresses now, I also like the skater dress style!!
