Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic Review*

You know there are certain moments when you feel like you’ve made it as a blogger and it’s never going to get any better? That’s pretty much how I felt when I was contacted by Pixi Beauty and asked if I wanted to try out their toners 🥰🥰🥰

As most people are aware, Glow Tonic is their original toner and one of their bestselling products, along with the Double Cleanse. They’ve recently added two new toners to the range; the Rose Tonic (a nourishing pink coloured toner with rose and elderflower) and the Retinol Tonic (a gorgeous purple toner for advanced youth and preserving. This toner has retinol and jasmine flower).

For the past few months, I’ve been exclusively testing out the original Glow Tonic. This toner contains 5% glycolic acid to help gently exfoliate, smooth and brighten, revealing healthy glowing skin (hence the name)! What I didn’t know was that it also has aloe vera and ginseng to help treat and nourish the skin as well.

First up, can we talk about the packaging please? I absolutely love the simplicity of the bottle and the green and gold colour scheme they’ve got going on! It somehow looks and feels incredibly luxurious, which is weird considering the 100 ml bottle is only £10 (which I appreciate will be extravagant for some people, but I was honestly expecting this toner to cost at least double the price)!

I really like the smell of the product and feel that the overall scent is quite light and botanical enough to detract from the more chemical ingredients.

I have to admit, despite the bottle saying it was alcohol-free and suitable for all skin types, I was a little worried. I’ve previously spoken about having rosacea, so I have to be a little careful about what I use on my face so I don’t get a flare-up of spots and redness. That being said, I decided to go all in and try using the toner in the morning and evenings as part of my full skincare routine. (I cleanse my face using my Simply Pure conditioning cleanser and Kathleen sonic cleanser, then tone with the Glow Tonic and finish with either my Asda Kind and Gentle light moisturiser in the morning or my REN Overnight Recovery Balm in the evenings.)

I assumed because the toner contains glycolic acid that my face would feel a little tight with a stinging sensation after I’d used it (as this has previously happened to me when using a glycolic acid toner), so I was incredibly delighted to find that it didn’t feel like that at all. Instead, it felt refreshing on my skin and dried really quickly so I could moisturise afterwards.

In the past couple of months I’ve found that my skin feels more soft and supple, plus the amount of rosacea flare-ups and spots have dramatically reduced since I started using the Glow Tonic. I’ve also found that I’m a lot more comfortable wearing minimal make-up with no foundation or concealer. That being said, I’m not exactly sure that I’ve noticed my face has “healthy glowing skin”, although I did get asked if I was 24 recently, so maybe the results are more obvious to other people? 😂

I do love the other results so far so I’ll definitely carry on using this product until it’s finished.

I’m really intrigued to try the Retinol Tonic next as it’s meant to rejuvenate skin and boost collagen production; perfect for someone who’ll be rapidly approaching mid-thirties after the new year!!

All Pixi products are 100% cruelty-free and I’m pretty sure (although please correct me if I’m wrong) that the Glow Tonic is also vegan. The best thing is they’re also available to buy in Boots so you can save money on postage!!

Have you used any of the Pixi toners yet? Which one is your favourite so far? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x

  1. I’ve never heard of these before but I’m always on the look out for new skin care products. I have very sensitive skin and I’m prone to allergies so have difficulties finding suitable products. Thanks for sharing your review.

  2. Great post! I’m currently trying the mini version that I got in a gift set, as I’m looking for an alternative to Glossier’s Solution! Have you tried the Glossier one?

      1. I thought it was good at first, but since purchasing a second bottle it doesn’t seem to be helping my skin AT ALL! It feels a lot more acidic that the Pixi one and doesn’t smell as good, but haven’t been trying the Pixi one for long enough to completely judge it yet! X

        1. Oh that’s a shame ☹️☹️ I love the smell of the Pixi toner and it’s definitely working for my skin 😊 I’m not sure I’d want to switch to something else x

  3. I’ve ordered the rose gift set and can’t wait for it to arrive. Once it does I’ll probably blog about it. Glad to hear the Glow Tonic is working for you and it’s one I’m tempted to try too to see if it’ll help my rosacea.
