What I’m Loving On Amazon Prime

There seems to be loads of blog posts about what everyone’s watching on Netflix right now. I don’t have Netflix though, I have Amazon Prime and no one seems to be talking about what you can watch on there!!

They’ve suddenly added loads of old-school shows on Prime, like The OC, Dawson’s Creek and Ugly Betty. Here are some of my favourite free TV shows I’ve been watching over the past few months (correct at the time of publishing):

One Tree Hill was one of my favourite TV shows in my late teens/early 20s. Seasons one to four follow the lives of Tree Hill’s high schoolers, the rivalry between half-brothers, Lucas and Nathan Scott, and the high school’s basketball team. In season 5, the show cleverly moves on to following them four years after high school so that the actors are playing their actual ages. For years I’d thought I’d never seen the last series, so when I found all 9 seasons free on Prime, I obviously had to watch the previous 8 seasons first to remind myself what had happened. Turns out that, when I finally got to season 9, I had actually seen it but managed to completely forget!!

I started re-watching Lie To Me on the first week of lockdown as I’d watched it years ago and loved it. I bloody love Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs) who stars as Cal Lightman who can read micro-expressions on people’s faces, which can help him determine if they’re lying. He owns The Lightman Group who are often hired by federal law enforcement and third party groups to assist in investigations from theft to murder. There are only 3 seasons though so I temporarily stopped watching it at the beginning of season 3 so I wouldn’t get through it so fast 😂😂 Does anyone else do that?

Save the cheerleader, save the world!! Remember when Heroes came out in 2006 and everyone was saying this iconic catchphrase?? Heroes centres around a group of people who, on the surface have nothing in common, but find themselves gifted with “superpowers” from invisibility to flying, absorbing others powers and bending the space/time continuum. Hiro (who can bend space and time) has an important message from the future to “save the cheerleader, save the world”. This seemingly random group has to band together to try and save the world from being destroyed.  There are 4 seasons and I’ve just started watching season 3 🙂

House is one of those shows I like to put on an episode here and there as it can get pretty samey. Dr Gregory House (a doctor addicted to pain medication who oftens clashes with colleagues about the correct course of treatment) is always convinced that the patient has a very specific rare disease but the treatment isn’t working and doesn’t know why. He then realises that it’s actually a different disease and saves the patient just in time!! All 8 seasons are included with Prime.

I used to love Lost when it was first on TV, but it started getting a bit too weird so I stopped watching around season 3 or 4. I found it on Prime recently and decided to take a nostalgia trip, who remembers the polar bear on the desert island?? To be honest, I probably won’t get round to finishing it, but it was fun to watch a few of the first episodes! All 6 seasons are included with Prime!

What’s on my watch next list?

Well, as I was looking through the TV show list for this post, I noticed they’ve added Ally McBeal, Round The Twist (the super weird Australian kid’s TV Show) and The X-Files!! There are also a couple of Amazon Prime exclusive shows that look amazing that J and I both want to watch; Good Omens starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen and also Star Trek: Picard, starring Patrick Stewart!!

There are loads of TV shows that you can pay extra to watch like Angel, Glee, Veronica Mars, True Blood and Only Fools And Horses; however, I don’t want to be paying extra for a service we already pay for. Occasionally they do get put on the free list for a while, so it’s worth looking out for from time to time!

Do you have Netflix or Prime? What are you watching on Amazon Prime at the moment? Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x

  4. I don’t have Amazon Prime, I have Netflix, but seeing some of these old shows being brought back to Prime is making me want to sign up!

  5. I have both as I steal my mums Amazon Prime, heh! I’ve not long finished re-watching Ugly Betty and I forgot how much I loved it. 1. It’s so good, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go 🙂 I ended up watching it over about 3 months but I was terrified they were going to take it off the free list!! x

  9. I loved One Tree Hill! And I hadn’t realised House is on there too! We have Netflix at the minute, and I do have Amazon Prime but I always seem to forget about it in favour of Netflix. Might just have to change that though! Did I read somewhere that Greys Anatomy is on Prime? If it is then it’s definitely worth the watch!

    Thanks for sharing 😊

    1. I think a lot of people forget about Prime, I didn’t realise they did Prime video, I thought it was just fast and free shipping for Amazon lol!! Yes, Grey’s Anatomy is on there, I might have to check it out 🙂 xx
