The Kylie Lip Kit Review

I love entering Twitter giveaways! Especially the recent Kylie Lip Kit one from the lovely Tamzin, because I only went and blimmin’ won, didn’t I? Don’t hate me, I seem to be really lucky when it comes to raffles and giveaways!

I’m not gunna lie, I’ve been pretty hesitant to grab any of the Kylie products so far; first because I don’t really get all the hype surrounding the range, her and her family. #Soznotsoz (Although I absolutely love the look of her Burgundy palette and I’m super, super tempted by it). And secondly, I’m really not a fan of forking out all that money then having to pay for shipping and customs charges on top!

However, I was super excited for this to come in the post to see if her products are actually worth the hype or not! It came in a cute little gift box and it’s one of her Holiday edition lip kits in the shade Vixen. The kit itself contains the matte liquid lipstick and a matching lip liner.

On her website, Vixen is described as a blackened vampy plum and they’re not bloody wrong! It’s an absolutely gorgeous rich purple, although a slightly darker shade than I used to go for, now I’m all about experimenting with lip colours! ๐Ÿ˜›

I find lip liner terrifying so the first time I wore the lipstick, I didn’t actually wear any. Oops. Luckily, I found that it didn’t really bleed too much, at least not noticeably anyway unless you got right up close. I think next time though I’ll definitely try the lip liner, not only to see what the difference looks like but also get some practice in! After all, it would be a waste if I didn’t!

The constistancy of the lipstick was a little thicker than I was expecting and I kind of over-did it somewhat, so I ended up having to carefully (because I’d already done my foundation) take it off and re-apply it! The second time around it looked much better and it dried really fast; I was quite impressed!!

Once it had dried the colour was even darker than it looked in the tube and I wasn’t really expecting that much of a change,ย but I think (and hope to the makeup gods) that I pull off a dark lip really well! It reminded me of being a Goth when I was about 17 and wearing dark lipstick the majority of the time!

It wears really well and I could drink without it coming off. Eating was a different matter unfortunately and after lunch out, I had to reapply it to the inner parts of my lips.

Here’s a pic of me wearing it for the first time! It definitely looks more purpley in the sunshine ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall I really like this product, it’s such a stunning colour, but I’m not sure I’d choose to buy anything from her website because there are so many cheaper brands in the UK that sell really similar products. That being said, if I ever decided to splash out on the eyeshadow palette, I’d probably more than happily add a lip kit (or two) onto the order to qualify for the free international shipping!!

  1. I love Kylie’s lipkits although my biggest tip is wait until the second stock of a new shade because a couple of the formulas have been off on first runs. My favourite is Posie K and Damn Gina lipgloss. Although I have Head Over Heels on the way so that might change soon haha. It is a lot of money but I genuinely haven’t found a liquid matte that compares. Today mine passed the juice and lollipop test which was impressive, it’s mostly just oily foods that affect it. This shade looks beautiful on you, and if you use the lip liner as a base (instead of just a liner) your colour might even last longer. X

    1. Oooh thank you for both tips, that’s awesome advice! I have so many liquid lipsticks now that I think I need to start wearing them rather than buying more lol x

  2. This looks gorgeous on you! Like you, I’ve never been one for the Kardashian hype and although her beauty products look amazing, I’ve never fancied paying the shipping charges for them! You were such a lucky thing to win this and it really does look incred on you yaay
