The Ivy In The Lanes | Brighton*

To be honest, there’s nothing more exciting than being invited for food, especially when it happens to be at the newly opened The Ivy In The Lanes*, in Ship Street, Brighton.  I’ve seen a few pics from the opening night and I couldn’t wait to go and see it for myself!!

Based at the North Street end of Ship Street, The Ivy In The Lanes looks stylish from the outside and not too obvious or over the top.

However; once inside, although I was desperate for a coffee, I couldn’t resist having a wander around and taking in the décor first because it was absolutely stunning ♥  One of the main features of the Ivy In The Lanes is the gorgeous bar in the middle of the room, complete with a cornucopia of plants adorning the top.

To me, it felt as though every part of The Ivy had been given great thought and care.  Not only were all the walls and paintings exquisite, the seating was comfortable and the cushions firm enough to actually be usable!

Afer I’d finished taking pics I bumped into Sammy and we picked a cosy little spot in the corner next to a massive window which gave us amazing light for photos.  I ordered my latte and we were then treated to mini pastries, along with jam and marmalade for the tiny croissants!!  I opted for a chocolate twist and a wild berry Danish.  To be honest, I could have eaten all four pastries, but I wanted to save myself for the main event 😀

After pastries it was health juice time; either a green or red one.  I went for the green juice with avocado, mint, celery, spinach, apple and parsley in it.  It looked incredible but tasted pretty awful; I’m not a massive “health juice” fan to start with and unfortunately, mine tasted too much of celery 😂😂

I was so torn with what to choose for brunch as they had a lot of egg and avocado items on the menu (and I love them); however, the pancakes won me over in the end.  They were hot buttermilk pancakes and layered with Greek yoghurt and lemon balm.  Strawberries, raspberries and blackberries adorned the top with more Greek yoghurt.  A tiny pot of warm strawberry sauce accompanied the dish.

Sammy and I both went for the pancakes and, as everyone on one of the other tables all went for the eggs Royale, we scrambled to take photos of each other’s brunches!!  It was a great way to get to know a lot of local bloggers I’d not met before 🙂

Then I noticed that Sarah had gone for the avocado and tomato with a sesame dressing on granary bread so I managed to get a photo of that as well 😀

Once we’d re-arranged the tables for the perfect photos, my pancakes were a little cold when I came to eat them, but luckily they were still absolutely delicious (luckily the sauce was still really warm) 🙂  The lemon balm was cooling and sweet and worked really well with the Greek yoghurt and the bitterness of the fruit.  I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t feel full afterwards, but I didn’t feel as though I needed to eat anything else.

After brunch a few of us headed to explore the restaurant a bit more.  Sammy and I found the Tidal Room; a private room for up to 20 people that can be booked for breakfast, lunch, dinner or corporate events.  The walls are quintessentially Brighton, with the Royal Pavilion featuring heavily 🙂

I also found this gorgeous little corner tucked away near the back of the restaurant, I love the face on the wall 🙂

Then we headed down to the toilets to take some photos; it was incredibly opulent down there.  It’s one big room with several mirrors and small shelves round the walls; perfect for make-up re-application.  There were several doors, each containing a toilet and sink but all decorated slightly differently!

I want to say a massive thank to Fugu PR and The Ivy In The Lanes for inviting us all for brunch 🙂
