Yearly Roundup | 2016

Photos from the past year

Rather than doing a December favourites, I thought I’d do a general round-up of my year and share some of the lovely things that happened to me in 2016 (most of them blog-related!) πŸ™‚

January:

I attempted my first outfit of the day post and it went down really well. It definitely gave me more confidence to try more and I’d love to do even more next year!

February:

The beginning of Feb saw my first really big brand collab withΒ  Eau Thermale AvΓ¨ne. It was the first time I’d been sent loads of products to try out and I loved giving them a go.Β

March:

I attended my very first blog event at The Globe in Brighton. I got to meet other bloggers for the first time and made some fantastic new friends! I also came away with bags full of products and a really happy feeling πŸ™‚

I became a brand ambassador (#coconutqueen) for Coconut Lane. They do some really gorgeous items so I’d definitely recommend checking them out! You can get 20% off with my discount code: Closingwinter20. (I’ll earn commission for any sales made using this code)

April:

I was ecstatic when I got an invite to the Body Shop‘s 40th birthday event in Brighton. It was such a fun evening and I got a hand massage and a mini-makeover. They also gave us some of their new products to try out.

Back in March, I uploaded a post that proved to be my most popular to date; 5 reasons I won’t follow you on Twitter! It was meant as quite tongue-in-cheek but people seemed to really agree with the annoying types of people you find on Twitter.

May:

Through Twitter I was invited to a Yelp event and got to write my first restaurant review for Bella Italia. It was great to meet loads of new people and tuck into some incredible Italian food.

May also saw me getting to write my first sponsored post for Yorkshire Linen!! I couldn’t believe that a company wanted to pay me to write for them, and about beds; one of my favourite hobbies!!

June:

The Blogosphere Cover Reveal was a brilliant opportunity for June. I went up to London to see their 9th edition cover star being revealed (Ella Grace Denton).

July:

I spent a lovely afternoon hanging out with TaniaΒ at a pop-up shop event. We then spent the afternoon hanging out at Brighton Pier πŸ™‚

One of the most amazing things happened to m this year; I was short-listed for one of the We Are Thirty Plus awards; the Social Media Hero award. ÁineΒ and I went up to London for the ceremony (spoiler alert – I didn’t win but had a great time as we met up with LyndsayΒ and CarrieΒ as well).

August:

I went up to Manchester with JessΒ to the Girl Gang Event and met a great bunch of absolutely amazing women. Oh, and Gary.

Happy birthday to my blog – Closingwinter turned one and I hosted a massive giveaway! Full of loads of prizes πŸ˜€

September:

Áine and I travelled to London to check out the new Be Legendary 120 lipstick range from Smashbox. And rocked the blue lip!

October

This was one of the moments I kind of felt I’d made it as a blogger. I was invited to the Lush Christmas Blogger party. It was a really lovely evening and I got to catch up with Tania and Katie and make a new friend; Charlie.

Seeing Nickelback in concert was probably my highlight of 2016. I went up with Tania and we were so excitable! They played all the best songs and even retweeted me after the show!! I’d definitely go and see them again β™₯

November:

November saw me writing two of my favourite posts; from a gap-toothed blogger and no-follow links explained. I’ve had so many lovely tweets about both these posts. The first highlighted a rude tweet a dental company wrote asking if gap-toothed models should be banned to set good examples to children. The second was to explain what no-follow links are, why you should use them if you’re paid or given products to review on your blog and how to use them.

December:

I went ice went ice skating at the Royal Pavilion. It was really pretty even though it was packed!

I got sent one of the best products ever; the Kiss wing it eyeliner! A gel eyeliner, brush and handy stencil to help me finally getting my wings! It makes putting on eyeliner so easy and there are different styles of flicks to choose from πŸ˜€

I’d always been a bit of a quitter and never really stuck to hobbies, but not only did I celebrate a year of blogging this year, I also celebrated a year of going to pole fitness! It’s been so fun and I’ve definitely got a lot more upper body strength than I had before! I’m looking forward to working on a routine for my first grading next year!

What’s been your highlight of 2016? Is there anything you’ve got planned for 2017 that you’re really looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚ x
