I’m always on the look-out for a great place to have a massage in Brighton. My requirements are pretty simple; I’m pretty lazy so ideally it needs to be close to work or home and it must have a range of massages available (deep tissue, aromatherapy or hot stone for example) with different length options available π Oh, and obviously, the massage itself must be really good!!
Phoenix Spa managed to tick all of my boxes as it has a wide choice of massages available and it’s located in Kemptown (46 Upper Rock Gardens in Brighton) which isn’t too far from my work π It’s also an entirely organic vegan spa so they only ethically sourced, sustainable and vegan-friendly products π
Andreas, one of the co-founders, very generously offered me the opportunity to try any one of their treatments!! They have so many to choose from including massages, facials, gel nails, eyebrow an lash tinting an even false lash application. Although I was pretty tempted by the aromatherapy sinus relief facial massage, in the end, I settled on a 45 minute Swedish massage focusing on the back, neck and shoulders π They’re open 7 days a week so it was really easy to use the online booking form to book in a day and time to suit me π
The spa itself is based within the Westbourne Hotel. It’s very small but it’s really well laid out so it feels super cosy and the decor is absolutely lovely.
My massage was with Alice, one of the senior therapists and co-founders. She was an absolute sweetheart and had a really calm aura about her π The room was lovely and warm but not too hot. The music was the perfect volume for me (I have misophonia and some sounds can stress me out a lot) and the lights were lovely and low (Alice very kindly turned them up for me after my massage so I could take these photos!)
She checked if I was allergic to any of the essential oils before getting started and asked if I was okay with her massaging my scalp as well because my hair would get super oily. I was okay with it as I was going to have a shower when I got home anyway π She then left me to get ready and soon came back to begin the massage. The massage itself was incredibly relaxing and she used the perfect pressure for me. I was so relaxed that she had to ask me several times to turn over because I was in my own little world ππππ She then worked on my neck, shoulders and scalp for even more relaxation!!
I’d just like to say a massive thank you to Phoenix Spa for the treatment.
