Outfit Of The Day #6 | You’re Never Too Old For Dungarees

If for whatever reason you stumbled across my Insta stories in the last few weeks, you’ll know I’ve had a bit of a saga trying to find a pair of dungarees I like that don’t make me feel like a heffa. If you haven’t seen it, then you’re about to read the saga. Lucky you. I’ll try and keep it as short as possible though. We’ve all got stuff to do.

It first started when I went to H&M with a friend a few weeks and tried on a pair of dungarees; although they kinda made me feel a bit sassy and a teeny bit Zoella-esque, I wasn’t entirely sure about them. The next weekend I happened to be in town again and decided that actually I definitely did want the dungarees after all. Except they didn’t have them in my size anymore. Gah. The size down were definitely designed for a child’s body and the size up made me look pregnant; with twins. Fab.

I tried on a few different styles they had in H&M and tbh they equally looked crap. So I gave up looking.

Then a week or so later, I gave in and bought loads online from H&M to try (and I mean loads, I spent about £400 buying dungarees. I’m surprised my bank didn’t ask if I was okay). I figured if I could wander round the house in them, I’d get more of a feel for them, rather than trying them on in a sweaty changing room with Candice talking about getting to second base with some guy the night before. I finally stumbled upon these unisex dungarees from H&M that were online exclusives! Except because I know their sizes come up small, I bought a L and XL to try … and they were absolutely massive. Bugger.

So I sent them back and ordered the S and XS ones. Luckily, the S fitted really well and the more I wore them round the house, the more I loved them, so I sent the XS back and kept these ones ♥

When I went to visit my parents in Portsmouth recently, I decided I’d wear my new dungarees and I teamed them with my new jumper (surprise surprise, it’s from H&M) and white trainers (these are not from H&M. I know, right? These beauts are from New Look). I completed my look with a white hooded zip up top that I’ve had for about a year and I dutch braided my hair 🙂 I persuaded J to come and take some pics of me in our local woods, and I’m so happy with how they turned out. I always forget he’s handy with a camera and very patient with the temperamental blogger ♥

  1. You look gorgeous in these photos, and I was genuinely laughing out loud when I read your post! I’ve been eyeing up dungarees for a while – I’m still breastfeeding my baby and so I need clothes with easy access :p and I figured dungarees could work nicely!
