They got touch with me a while ago and asked if I wanted to try out some of their tea tree products and very kindly sent me a little gift set!

I was sent a tea tree shampoo, tea tree conditioner, a tea tree body wash and some tea tree toothpaste, all made by a company called Thursday Plantation! I’ve been trying them out over the past month or so and here’s how I got on!

The shampoo is designed to clean and revitalise hair plus cleaning the scalp without stripping the natural oils. It’s meant to leave hair feeling soft and manageable, which is fab because a lot of the time, mine feels a little straw-like!!

The science bit:

  • The shampoo contains Chamomilla Extract, which has a calming and soothing effect on the scalp
  • It also contains aloe vera and jojoba to hydrate and condition the scalp
  • It has revitalising lime and lavender oils in it which are both beneficial for a healthy scalp
  • Finally, it contains 100% pure Australian tea tree oil, which is an antibacterial ingredient

How I got on with it:

  • The shampoo only mildly smells like tea tree and it’s pretty pleasant. It looks like a clear gel, rather than your usual white shampoo. Despite it containing tea tree, it didn’t make my scalp tingle or feel unpleasant at all.
  • The shampoo is a little difficult to lather up well but, as I was washing my hair with it, it really felt like I was stripping everything off my hair and starting again. I did wonder if my hair might look greasy and dry when it dried, but…
  • HOLY CRAP DID MY HAIR FEEL SUPER SOFT AND SLEEK AFTERWARDS!!! I mean honestly, my hair is normally pretty flyaway and has a mind of its own, but the shampoo has really helped my roots and tamed those flyaways down!! I kept making J touch my hair because it was so soft and smooth, like kitten fur!

The conditioner is designed for normal or oily hair, mine tends to get oily quite quickly so I was excited to try this out πŸ™‚

The science bit:

  • The conditioner gently detangles and gives lustre back to the hair
  • It contains aloe vera, jojoba and olive oil to deeply condition the hair
  • It also contains essential oils to revitalise hair

How I got on with it:

  • Slightly disappointingly, the conditioner really doesn’t smell as nice as the shampoo. I don’t know if it’s the lime oil, the bitter orange oil or the rose geranium in it, but it has a slightly odd and unpleasant scent to it πŸ™
  • Luckily, once it’s washed out,Β the scent seems to disappear completely!
  • However, on the plus side, it does make my hair feel really soft and a lot more manageable after using it so I can forgive the weird smell while I’m in the shower!
  • A little goes a long way and even though I have quite long hair, I never need to use much πŸ™‚

The tea tree body wash was a product I was intrigued to try out because I wondered if it was going to be a Source shower gel debacle (the mint one, obviously! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚)

The science bit:

  • It contains lemongrass, lime and orange essential oils
  • The body wash soothes and stimulate the skin
  • It contains a non-drying cleanser to gently clean and refresh the skin

How I got on with it:

  • Thankfully my lady bits remained in tact without the weird tingling sensation πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  • It lathers up really nicely and doesn’t smell too strongly of tea tree; in fact, after I’d dried my skin, I couldn’t really smell any of the product on me at all!
  • My skin has felt lovely and moisturised after I use it and I haven’t needed to bother with any body lotion πŸ™‚

I’m not going to lie, the toothpaste was the product I was least excited to try out because tea tree just doesn’t sound like something I want to put in my mouth!!

The science bit:

  • It’s ideal for maintaining oral hygiene, dentures, bad breath, tartar build up & gum health
  • The toothpaste is free from sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), fluoride and sugar
  • It naturally controls plaque and tartar
  • It helps to whiten and brighten teeth

How I got on with it:

  • I was actually pleasantly surprised, it definitely wasn’t as weird as I was expecting! The tea tree is pretty subtle and if you pretend hard enough you can almost taste mint!!
  • My mouth felt really clean afterwards; even in the mornings after using it the night before!
  • I think my teeth are a little bit whiter than when I first started using it and at less than Β£4 a tube, it’s in the mid price-range if you compare it to other whitening toothpastes.
  • I usually alternate between using this one and a mint one as I’m still not 100% sure about putting tea tree in my mouth all the time

Overall, I was impressed with the Thursday Plantation tea tree products I was sent and loved the shampoo and conditioner most πŸ™‚

A massive thank you to Natures Healthbox for sending the gift set to me! I was also really impressed with their website; it looks absolutely beautiful, everything is set out clearly and there are so many products to choose from! If you’re looking for natural, organic and free-from products, I’d recommend checking them out, plus they seem to have a 15% offer available for the summer (correct at the time of publishing).

*Natures Healthbox kindly sent me these products but views, hair, skin and teeth are all my own.
