My Recent Buys

As you know, I recently went into town and picked up some bits and bobs. Unfortunately two items quickly got the can. I hate not giving things a proper try, but for me these products really didn’t work at all from the outset.

The first was the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation. I put it on and under the light of my bathroom, it looked flawless and non-flaky. It lasted all day, which was great, but the colour was not! Even though I picked the 2nd lightest shade, it really wasn’t pale enough for me. 🙁 I spent about half an hour in Boots debating which one to go for and I picked the wrong one!

The second was the Soap and Glory eyeliner. I don’t know if I got a duff one or it had been used by the annoying people who can’t just use the sodding testers, but either way, mine definitely was not black. I had to go over the lines loads of times for it to look solid and the pen was far too rigid for my liking. I’m a little disappointed as I really wanted to like this product!

That being said, the rest of my purchases were a lot more satisfying. I ploughed through The Girl on the Train, staying up late over several evenings to get to the end. I have to say, I managed to work out some of it just before the big reveal at the end. I usually get it wrong so I felt quite chuffed with myself 🙂 I really enjoyed this book and I wonder if there will be more from Paula Hawkins in the future.

I’ve been experimenting mixing the facial oil with my foundation and so far, so good 🙂 It feels amazing on my face, glides on effortlessly and smells rather delicious. It reminds me of the essential oils you get during a massage. I’ve also been wearing it on my face at work without foundation and I feel it makes my skin brighter!

I’ve only spent a bit of time practising my contouring so far. The first attempt didn’t go that well as the only clean brushes I had were ridiculously unsuitable (I think they’re blusher brushes) and I ended up with a 5 o’clock shadow!! I need to invest in a proper contouring brush at some point so I can try it out properly.

  1. I’ve been using Rimmel’s Match Perfection for the best part of a year and colour wise it is perfect for me. I do have the old packaging and formula though, I’m not sure about the new one without a tester first haha. Sorry to hear you didn’t get on with the eyeliner 🙁 x

          1. I’ve never really tried anything bigger than that. Can’t really afford any high end products and I know I never will but Rimmel is good enough for me, it works so I’m happy Xx
