My Favourite Fragrances*

You know when you’re feeling a bit shit?  You feel a bit tubby, your clothes don’t seem to fit that well and your brows and liner definitely aren’t on fleek.  Oh and you’re sporting a spot the size of Texas?  Well for me, perfume has always been there to pick me up and instantly make my day feel better, anyone else?  I have a lot of fragrances that I’ve accumulated over the years, but I thought I’d share my top five with you 🙂

By the way before we start, I have to admit that I’m one of those weird people who categorises her perfumes by seasons.  That’s not to say I won’t wear a specific perfume during another season, but I definitely have spring/summer and autumn/winter fragrances!!

DKNY Be Delicious not only brings back memories of travelling around America but also my 30th birthday and how amazing it ended up being 🙂  I first bought this perfume in Sephora, San Francisco because I really fell in love with the freshness of the scent; the top notes being cucumber, grapefruit and magnolia with apple, rose and white amber running through it.  Unfortunately I lost it somewhere and promptly forgot I’d ever owned it.  Then on the approach to my 30th birthday, (something I’d seriously not been looking forward to until I got together with J) we went into town for lunch at the Giggling Squid when J asked me if there were any presents I really wanted, like jewellery or perfume.  I suddenly remembered that I used to own this scent but hadn’t owned any since the disappearing rollerball, so we popped into the Perfume Shop in Brighton and picked up a bottle.  I had to pretend I didn’t know I was getting it though lol 😂  I love the bottle design and the colour; it really makes me think of spring/summer!

I actually have no idea where I got my Calvin Klein CK One perfume from, but I do remember that it was the perfume/aftershave to have back in the mid 90s (I’m pretty sure my parents might have bought it for me one Christmas?  Thanks guys ♥)  It was designed as a unisex fragrance and everyone went crazy for it.  The main notes are mandarin orange, papaya, bergamot, and lemon. There’s also a green tea accord running through it, apparently!  It’s such a light fragrance and is perfect for lazy days in or crazy nights out!  I feel like this is definitely a summer sort of perfume.

I love how pretty the Daisy bottle from Marc Jacobs is; it looks absolutely gorgeous sitting in my bathroom on display!!  This was a Christmas present from my big brother; Phil, I didn’t know I was going to get it and I’d never smelt it before, but luckily he got it seriously right!!  I adore the top notes of berries and wild violets, whilst the jasmine infusion heart note and sandalwood base note have been joined perfectly to create a light scent with slightly heavier undertone 🙂  Personally I feel like the heavier undertone makes it perfect for an autumn/winter perfume 🙂

When I was invited to The Body Shop’s 40th birthday celebrations a couple of years ago, I couldn’t resist having a really good browse round the store and ending up being drawn to their Japanese Cherry Blossom fragrance mist, mostly because I loved the cherry blossom flowers on the bottle and the cute pink colour!!  Containing sweet magnolia, cherry blossom and hinoki wood accords, it’s such a beautiful and pretty fragrance.  It’s definitely a spring fragrance for me and I can’t wait to start using it again soon!  This is also the only one that isn’t a perfume/cologne!!

I wasn’t exactly sure about Wood Sage and Sea Salt cologne the first time I smelt it, but the Jo Malone fragrance* has definitely been growing on me the past few months.  This fragrance has a top note of ambrette seeds (a type of hibiscus), a heart note of sea salt and the base note of sage.  It smells absolutely incredible; it’s both woody and fresh at the same time, whilst smelling slightly floral as well!  I definitely feel like this is more of a fragrance to wear during autumn and winter.

What are your favourite fragrances and why?  Do you have any you save for specific seasons or is that just me?  Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x
