My Birthday | 2017

It was my birthday on Sunday and was a really lovely one. I used to have really awful birthdays (lots of drink, lots of crying, lots of getting frustrated with “friends”) until I started going out with J. Now I have amazing, quiet, chilled out birthdays, so I thought I’d share what I got up to this year!It started off with coffee in bed, followed by a croissant breakfast (not in bed though, think of the crumbs), complete with strawberry jam (I used to have this every year when I lived with my parents, but I forgot about doing that until recently!!)

I then got to open my cards and presents πŸ˜€ I even got some from a few friends!! The lovely Jemma had sent me the cutest postcard which I adore, Sharon got me a very sassy keyring and Rachael got me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a set of stunning coasters and a very rude mug!!

My parents got me a book token as requested, because I have to fill up our brand new Billy bookcase somehow πŸ˜€ IΒ β™₯ IKEA!!

J’s presents, as usual, took me on a wild ride from start to finish! I always ask him what to open first, so this year he helpfully wrote numbers on the bottom in the order I should open them.Β (Soz about the photo quality, I had to vacate my desk for all our new house bits and use our new drawers to take photos on and the lighting was horrific πŸ™ )

I got a beautiful black tealight holder with an H on in silver and a gorgeous giant teacup plant holder!!

Next up was a quick charger plug for my phone, because it’s about 4 years old and I have to charge it about 3 times a day! The plug is designed to charge your phone much more quickly than a normal plug!

Then I got a new case for my phone as I recently dropped it and cracked the bottom of the screen a little. I felt really bad for J when it didn’t fit as I knew he’d spent loads of time and effort looking for the perfect presents for me πŸ™

The next present seemed to be working on a theme; a portable power bank for my phone. This one is like the mother of all portable chargers, the battery is 10040 mAh!! I liked this a lot as I find I go to a lot of blog events without my big camera so I use my phone a lot more and constantly need to charge it up πŸ™‚

Recently I managed to snap one of my Buffy discs when taking it out of the case. The next present felt quite heavy and looked very much compact boxset sized, so I wondered if J had bought me a brand new one! It turns out that, no, he hadn’t. He’d only gone and bought me a new blimming phone!!! One that, looking back, it was quite obvious I was getting, because, what a surprise, the case J bought fits my new phone perfectly!! The phone is a Leeco which is very similar to a Google Pixel phone! I absolutely love it as it’s been a long time since I’ve had a brand new phone, I usually get J’s old one when he upgrades!! He told me to test it out, so I went to put my SIM card in …. and it didn’t fit πŸ™

That’s when I opened my last present and inside was a new SIM card!! J had very sneakily ordered me one. I had wondered when I got a text saying “your new SIM card has been dispatched” but honestly didn’t put two and two together. I am not smart.

After present opening I got to see my cake; which was a “burger and fries”. It has madeira and chocolate sponge with lots of icing and jam!! Oh and it tastes absolutely delicious!!

I then relaxed with a couple of episodes of Buffy (while J had to order some more house bits) and started watching Tangled until it was time to go and pick up our Wagamamas; Yuki Udon, Pad Thai, chilli squid and tora kara age for the win!!Β Then we watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt 2 on TV, ate some cake and went to bed β™₯ It was honestly one of the nicest birthdays I’ve had πŸ™‚

Thank you to everyone who left me lovely messages πŸ™‚ Do you have any birthday traditions? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚ x

Harry Potter, Buffy and cake – what could be better. πŸ˜€

  2. Happy belated birthday! It sounds as though you had a lovely day and got some great gifts. I agree about past birthdays, I don’t like parties or anything of that nature and much preferred chilled low key ones.

  3. Happy belated birthday! You had some great gifts and that cake!! Dan bought me a power pack for my phone at Christmas last year and I literately can’t live without it. It goes everywhere with me and I’ll sit on the sofa with it plugged in if my battery is low. So useful and charges really quick. It’s had such a pasting!
