JOICO Blonde Life Hair Products*

When I was really young, I was a proper little blonde haired girl! As I grew up, it started getting darker and by about 7, I became a pretty non-descript “mousey brown”.

Over the years, my hair’s been black, red, blue, and pink. But in the last year or so, I’ve gone back to being blonde. And I have to say I’m absolutely loving it! I still have my brown roots though as I wanted more of a “natural” balayage look and it seems to suit my skin tone quite well!

Here’s a photo of me as a little blondie, check out the ringlets too πŸ™‚ Wasn’t I a cutie?

Although I’m pretty good when it comes to using heat on my hair; I rarely use hairdyers, straighteners or curling tongs, I’m still pretty rubbish about looking after the colour because I kind of forget that it’s been bleached and coloured! I don’t use any products specifically designed for blonde hair, so the colour is often left looking a little brassy with hints of orange in between salon visits. It’s really not a great look for me. Or for anyone really!

So for the last couple of months, I’ve been testing out some of the new Blonde Life range from JOICO* which launched at the beginning of March!

First, the brightening shampoo which is designed to nourish and illuminate hair whilst strengthening, softening and bringing back shine. I absolutely loved the shampoo the first few times I used it but then I noticed that I was starting to get dandruff (I have a black pillowcase so it was kinda obvious!) so I had to stop πŸ™ As soon as I stopped though, the dandruff went away. I was gutted that I didn’t get on with the shampoo as I really wanted to use the entire range! I decided to attempt to use it again after a couple of weeks of using something else, and this time round, everything was fine!

Alongside the shampoo, I was also using the brightening conditioner for illuminating hydration and softness. It supposedly detangles hair and contains Tamanu and Monoi oils. Okay, this conditioner is absolutely incredible! Not only did it keep my hair looking fresh and blonde (without the awful brassy tones) but it really did detangle it. I was able to run my fingers through my hair in the shower and the knots brushed out with ease!! It was almost like they melted away! I was really impressed with this product πŸ™‚

And lastly, I tried out the brightening masque to hydrate, detox and illuminate blonde hair. It neutralises chlorine and removes trace minerals that can dull and yellow blonde hair. I love using hair masques and I definitely don’t do it enough. This one was really easy to use; simply apply some to the mid-lengths and ends, leave for 4 minutes and wash out. The instructions say you can use it up to 3 times a week alongside the shampoo and conditioner!

I’ve definitely noticed that my hair has stayed very blonde since using these products and the brassiness hasn’t started to creep in, hurrah!! The products also have a really pleasant smell to them and I’ve found my hair looks shinier, healthier and much more manageable!

At around Β£15 each, I’m not sure I’d re-purchase these, but if you’re tempted, you can pick them up at Look Fantastic.

The only other negative thing I could really say about these is that they were so bloody hard to photograph!!! White writing on a shiny silver and gold background? Obviously weren’t made with bloggers in mind πŸ˜›

Do you use any products specifically designed to keep your hair colour looking fresher for longer? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚ x

  1. I’ve been blonde for so long, lately I’m trying to go for more of the balayage look. As you say, it’s more of a natural look and not such high maintenance either! Joico is my go-to Hair Care brand, I’m a qualified hairdresser and first discovered it in the salon I worked in. I use the colour endure violet products but these you have here look fab! I will definitely look at purchasing them based on your review!
