My Five Favourite Easy Hairstyles*

There’s nothing worse in the summer than making an effort with your hair, only for the weather to play havoc with your locks. My hair used to go a bit Monica in the humidity, but now I find it just goes limp and lifeless, I wonder if that happens as you get older? πŸ™

To stop my hair from looking boring and flat this summer, I’ve been using the John Frieda Luxurious Volume shampoo, Luxurious Volume conditioner and the Luxurious Volume in-shower treatment* to help my hair out.

I’ve also been experimenting a bit more with different looks, rather than just shoving it in a ponytail, so here are my top easy hairstyles πŸ™‚

The side ponytail – What could be easier than popping your hair into a quick side pony? Not only does it look pretty, it gets your hair off your neck to keep you nice and cool!Β For a bit of lift at the front, and to make it look less boring, I plait my (growing out) fringe and then use a couple of hair grips to hold it in place. Perfect πŸ™‚ The hair bands I use are from Popband!

Space buns – Since discovering space buns, I’ve been obsessed with them!! While I love the traditional space buns, I like to do a half up/half down look, because it’s super easy. I think this style looks fab with straight or wavy hair πŸ™‚ For this look, I put my hair into bunches first, then loosely wrap the hair around the hair tie and secure with another hair tie πŸ™‚Β For that festival/party look, you could add copious amounts of glitter! I’ve personally never done this as, gasp, I bloody hate glitter!!

The messy bun – I love the messy bun because it’s simple, classic and looks stunning if it’s done right. Even though sometimes it takes half an hour, a lot of swearing and a lot of hair grips to make it look “natural” πŸ˜€ I generally add a pretty hairband because I think it adds a little extra something. I got this one from Accessorize a few years ago πŸ™‚

The night before Dutch braids – If I want some sexy beach waves, I wash my hair the night before, towel dry, it a little and leave to air dry. Just before bed, I Dutch braid it (with a centre parting) so that in the morning, I get perfectly tousled waves πŸ˜€ Once I’ve taken the braids out, I put my hair into a side parting because the John Frieda products help to keep the height all day so it doesn’t end up looking flat πŸ™‚ I wrote a tutorial about Dutch braiding, in case you’re not sure how to do it, you can read that here.

Do the twist – This is probably the easy one of all. Keep your hair down (either straight, curled or loose waves), take a section of hair from the front, twist it a few times and use hair grips to secure to the rest of your hair. This style looks great with either one or both sides pinned back πŸ™‚ I prefer the one-sided look, mostly because I can never get the other side to match πŸ˜€

The John Frieda Luxurious Volume products have been fab at transforming my dull, flat hair! The shampoo and conditioner both contain Caffeine Vitality Complex and has made my hair look and feel super soft.

The conditioner has been fantastic at detangling my hair while also building fullness πŸ™‚

The in-shower treatment contains protein and keratin to amplify volume and increase hair thickness, oh and it’s bright blue πŸ˜€

  1. I have 3a/3b curls and I like it with volume. Unfortunately, most of the volumizing hair products I tried made my tresses crazy poofy without any curl definition. Hopefully, John Frieda’s Luxurious Volume line will be the answer to my issue. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I love these especially the space buns and the twist! I never really do anything to style my hair but will give these a go.

  3. Such lovely hairstyles! I particularly like the extra touches you’ve added – the hairband with your messy bun and the plait with your side ponytail. Those are the details I often forget about, but they really add to the look. I’m going to make an effort to incorporate these into my hairstyles.

I love the John Frieda straight and curly range, but I haven’t tried their volume products. The sound great and I think my hair could really benefit from them now that I’ve come off my medication and have lost my curly hair. Xx
