Dermalogica Moisturisers Review*

A few months ago I posted a review about some products that Dermalogica very kindly sent me to test as one of their skinfluencers. One product that, unfortunately, I really didn’t get on with was the Skin Smoothing Cream (a moisturiser).

Personally, I found the smell really off-putting (like a cider or beer that had been left in the sun for hours) and I found that my face was looking quite dry and patchy by the early afternoon πŸ™

Luckily for me, the lovely team over at Dermalogica asked if I wanted to test out one of their other moisturisers; the Intensive Moisture Balance! They also sent me out their latest moisturiser; the Prisma Protect, as well!

First up, the Intensive Moisture Balance. This product definitely sounded much more suitable for my combination skin. It’s a nourishing anti-oxidant cream that helps to smooth away fine lines with vitamin C. It also has hyaluronic acid and Aloe Vera in it to help lock in the hydration πŸ™‚

I love that this product has no smell to it, although perhaps there’s the faintest aroma of Aloe Vera. It’s been amazing at keeping my skin looking and feeling hydrated all day, even on the dry rosacea patches on my cheeks!! It’s a very lightweight moisturiser so I’ve been using it morning and evening after using my pre-cleanse, cleansing gel and microfoliant!

I’m gutted that I’ve nearly run out because this is hands down one of the best moisturisers I’ve ever used on my face!! The only downside I’ve found is that it still hasn’t resolved the issue I have of my foundation going patchy, but maybe that’s just my crap face 😐😐 That being said, while I was checking the website for information on the product, I noticed that you’re meant to use it on a damp face. Bollocks. Obviously I’ve been using it on a dry face, so I’m going to have to try it out on a damp face and see if it makes any difference lol.

As with a lot of Dermalogica’s products it’s gluten, cruelty and paraben free. This one is also vegan and contains no artificial fragrances or colours.

As I said earlier in the post, I was also sent the Prisma Protect as well. This is Dermalogica’s newest, light-activated multitasking moisturiser! It helps to boost the skin’s natural luminosity, protects the skin from pollutions and contains SPF 30 to protect the skin from UV damage!! Oh and obviously it’s also a moisturiser, providing hydration all day and leaving skin visibly smoother!

I think it feels slightly heavier than the other moisturiser, perhaps that’s down to the SPF in it, but I don’t really know. It does sink in really fast though and it makes my face feel incredibly soft and smooth and not at all greasy like sun cream tends to do. It’s also made my skin look a little more luminous and less dull, but apparently it was only really noticeable to me!

Because it’s light-activated and contains SPF, I’ve only been using this product during the day when I’m out and about. As I’ve only really stayed in the direct sun for about hour or so, I don’t know if you’re meant to reapply this regularly when you’re outside. I did find that an hour in the sun didn’t give me any redness or sunburn though!!

I haven’t managed to try this product out with my foundation yet, so I’m not sure how it would stand up with regards to the patchiness, but overall it’s a fab product and I’ll definitely be using this in the warmer months when I’m chilling out in the garden!

The Prisma Protect is also gluten, cruelty and paraben free, vegan and contains no artificial fragrances or colours.

Have you tried any of the Dermalogica moisturisers? Which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below πŸ™‚ x

  1. It’s so great that they offered other moisturizers for you to try when you said the other one didn’t work for you! I love the sound of the one with SPF 30 in it! I have such pale skin and making a point of only buying day moisturizers with SPF in it now!

    1. Yes, it was so lovely of them especially as I get on with the new one much better πŸ™‚ Ha, I know what you mean, I’m super pale too and definitely need that SPF!

  2. I have never tried this but have been wanting to because a celeb I follow used to have it in her amazon wishlist. Funny but I remember. I cannot wait to try it. I love good skincare and the fact u mentioned the moisturizer is heavier is exactly what I need. Just did my skincare now and I use two different moisturizers and still feel dry skin. Grrr! Thanks for the review. Cannot wait to try!

    1. That’s a good reason to give it a go πŸ™‚πŸ™‚ I hope it helps if you do end up trying it. I hate having dry skin on my face! X
