Awapuhi Wild Ginger Mirrorsmooth Collection*

At the end of last year, I wrote a post about attending the Jingle and Mingle event, hosted by the lovely Mickaela and Amy from Salon Success.  Since January, I’ve been using the Awapuhi Wild Ginger Mirrorsmooth products by Paul Mitchell that I was kindly gifted.I was given a shampoo, conditioner and a high gloss primer and here’s how I found them (bear in mind that I tend to wash my hair every evening, otherwise I find it too greasy and I don’t want to forever rely on dry shampoo, even if it is one of the best products known to man!)

The shampoo:

It’s designed to help hydrate hair while protecting against frizz and flyaways.  The website says that it foams up and they’re not wrong!!  It also has Abyssinian oil which can help to replenish moisture, smooth the cuticle and boost shine!

The shampoo doesn’t smell too strongly of ginger, it’s more of a subtle fragrance, which I definitely prefer.  It’s a much thinner/runnier consistency than I’m used to and, the first time I used it, I squirted out a massive dollop of it, whoops!!  I’ve learnt my lesson now though and only use a tiny amount.

The conditioner:

This has been designed to hydrate and detangle hair while creating a gorgeous shiny and reflective finish.  It works incredibly well and I find I can brush out any tangles with my fingers!!  It leaves my hair feeling super soft, looking nourished and very shiny.

Again, the smell of ginger in the conditioner isn’t overpowering either.  The consistency feels more like a crème than other conditioners I’ve used, so I found I don’t have to use too much to get the desired result (especially now my hair is a lot shorter!)

The only thing I find is that the conditioner clings to my hair, so I have to REALLY make sure I’ve washed it all out otherwise, when my hair starts drying, I get that weird greasy root look going on and I have to whack my hair up in a bun so it doesn’t look gross!  Does anyone else find this?

The high gloss primer:

This is a fab little product to put through your hair once you’re out of the shower.  A little goes a really long way (I don’t even use a whole pump) and it really makes my hair look and feel smooth; even if I’ve blow-dried it (my hair usually frizzes up like crazy when it goes near a hairdryer!!)  It prevents thermal damage too so it’s perfect for using just before styling my hair!

Despite being in the Wild Ginger range, to me it smells more like sweeties, yummy!!

Overall:

My hair looks really healthy and shiny and the products really go a long way; I’ve been using them for about two and a half months and I still have quite a bit left!!  The first pic below is a week or so after I first starting using the products and the second was taken about a week ago!

Despite how much I love them, the products are a little on the pricier side of what I’d usually pay.  All three products retail for about £8-10 each, depending on where you’re looking for them.  I dunno about you, but I’m more of a £4-5 kinda gal for hair products!

What are your favourite shampoos and conditioners to use?  Let me know in the comments below 🙂 x

*These products were kindly gifted to me but views and hair are my own.  The hair colour, however, is questionable 😂😂
