A Chatty Catch-Up | January

It’s my first chatty catch-up of the year!! I hope you’ve all been well and have survived January? It’s felt like such a long and dreary month, but I feel like I’ve been super productive (for the first couple of weeks anyway) which is lovely!!

J and I had the first week of January off, best decision I ever made!! It meant that our New Year started with motivation for DIY; we changed a couple of light fittings, installed some CCTV and I painted the understairs cupboard so we have a space for coats, shoes and the hoover! All it needs now is the flooring to go down and it’ll be finished 🙂

Oh, we also went into the eaves and tidied up some of the stuff we’ve accumulated and, while moving a cast iron seahorse, I managed to put my back out! Luckily it’s completely fine now, but I need to remember to bend at the knees and not at the back!!

I then tidied up the bathroom cabinet and found so many things I didn’t even know we owned! One of the products I’m loving is this John Frieda Glistening Creme Instant Conditioner. I’m pretty sure this is actually something J bought years ago because I don’t remember ever buying this!! I love it though because it’s really nourishing for my hair and makes it look super, super shiny!

I’ve also stolen his Garnier Pure A moisturiser as it’s meant to be great for helping to clear imperfections! It’s doing pretty well although you don’t get a huge amount in a tube 🙁

I also found my Mr Bean Body Scrub that I got back in July 2016. I used it a few times, then it got shoved under a load more stuff! I’d forgotten how much I love this scrub (even though it’s one of the messiest products I’ve ever owned), it not only smells like coffee, it contains vitamin E and coconut oil for incredibly moisturised skin!! 😃 Top tip though, don’t use it if you’re having a quick shower, you’ll spend more time trying to clean up the mess lol

January saw me having a consultation to see about getting braces to close the gap in my front teeth; it’s going to cost between £2,500 and about £4,500 so I really need to decide whether I’m 100% serious about having it done!! I wish there was a quicker and cheaper fix!! J suggested using a TicTac 😂😂

After 7 months of not going to the salon, I finally got my hair cut. It was only an inch and a half off, but it feels so much better 🙂

I attended my first blog event in ages, the launch of Cin Cin in Hove. It was really lovely to catch up with old friends over delicious food and you can read about my evening here.

I also finally got to catch up with Katie, Tania and Rosie. We were meant to meet up before Christmas but I had such a bad cold that I had to cancel 🙁 But we rearranged for January and met up at Woods Burger Kitchen in Worthing. I went for a Philly cheese steak and an Oreo milkshake for pudding! We shared some skin on fries with cheese and bacon; they were divine!! Afterwards we popped next door to the Manuka Bar for a mocktail. I had Just Kisses!

Don’t forget to check out my wonderful advertiser; Kathleen.  Kathleen is a premium skincare brand with a passion for all things natural and organic.  They have an incredible range of products and I’ve reviewed the Illuminating Serum, the Sonic Facial Cleanser and their brand new shower gels and body oils!

  1. January definitely felt like the longest month ever! I can’t believe it’s finally over. That’s a lot of money for braces! :O Is that on the NHS? I was told it would be cheaper for me to go private to get a jaw guard made (as I grind my teeth at night and cause tooth and jaw problems) – which blew my mind.

    1. No that’s private. I don’t think I’d be eligible for NHS braces as it’s purely cosmetic and I’ve already had NHS braces.
I used to work for the maxfac department so I got a free jaw guard 🙊🙊

  2. loooove that garnier moisturiser, smells so damn good!

i had adult braces last year and i CANT TELL YOU how happy i am that i did it – the results will last the rest of your life so try and look at it like that, it’s an investment in your own happiness, girl!!!
