A Chatty Catch-Up | August 2019

As months go, August was pretty spectacular!! Not only was it my birthday but I had two whole weeks of annual leave and the weather was glorious ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

Here’s what I got up to during my favourite month!

Food:

As August was my birthday, there has been SO MUCH food this month!!

J and I ordered a takeout from Danny’s (a Chinese restaurant in Hove). We stayed with hors d’oeuvres; chicken ball, spare rib, seaweed and prawn toast. This was followed by crispy shredded beef, lemon chicken, special fried rice, crispy aromatic lamb pancakes ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค we always buy enough for leftovers for lunch the next day ๐Ÿ˜€

I was bought the cutest birthday cake ever from one of my work colleagues! I’d been talking about wanting a caterpillar cake and she went and got me a Wiggles from Sainsbury’s ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ it was absolutely delicious and really rich so it took me and J about a week to eat it!

My brother and his girlfriend came down to Brighton for a day and we ended up in Las Iguanas! We started off with a sharer plate of nachos which were amazing!!

Then I went for the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries!! It was so good but so filling, I was still full about 4 hours later!

Purchases:

I might have gone a little spend happy this month but most of it was done with birthday money!

One of my best friends, Charlie, came to stay in Brighton just after my birthday and we ended up going shopping in town and spending the night at Mercure Hotel (complementary stay which will be featured on my blog very soon!) ๐Ÿ˜€

I bought this gorgeous yellow jumper in Oliver Bonas; it says sunrise sunrays sunsets on the front and down the sleeves. It’s so soft and pretty and I can’t wait for the colder weather so I can wear it!

I also picked up this foot peel which I tried last week and colour me gross, my feet have started peeling big time!!

In H&M I picked up these high waisted black trousers and this stripey top. I’ve been eyeing up the top for ages and finally decided to go for it ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

Blogging:

Blogging was super fun this month with some amazing things happening!! Like I said earlier, not only did I get a gifted stay in a hotel, check out the incredible decor…

I also got this beautiful tee from BTN Apparel which is a Brighton-based print company! I got this cute helter skelter design but they have beach huts, seagulls, fish & chips and more!!

Home and garden:

As I’ve had two weeks off work, I wanted to be productive and get some of our extensive to do list started! We’ve been wanting to try out our paint sprayer for a few years and finally decided to try it out during my time off. This is the wall before (it’s pink with hints of plaster!)

Unfortunately we had quite a few mishaps with it and there were a lot of really thick patches of paint left on the wall. It didn’t look too bad for a first coat from a distance ….

However, once the paint dried, it cracked and peeled ๐Ÿ™

I ended up having to scrape most of the paint off ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

And then did a mist coat so we could try again!

The best of the rest:

Well my birthday was pretty amazing to be honest! J got me a gel nail lamp, plus loads of colours to try out (he chose a macaron themed set for me as he thought they were pretty and I like food!) He also got me some finger things to help soak the gel off afterwards and a tool to help scrape it too ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

He also got me the CUTEST set of socks ever; he even made a little label and called them Mr Bear and friends, because the tuxedo cat looks so much like Mr Bear ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I also got the most beautiful bouquet of freesias and lilac roses, a box of 12 taster Divine chocolates and a birthday balloon from my wonderful friend, Rachael!
